sashk··on TinyPilot: Build a KVM over IP for Under $100
Yes. Basically any motherboard Supermicro release which has F in the model means, that there is IPMI which allows remote management. X10, X11 and X12 motherboards have html5 viewer, which doesn't require java. I just ordered X11SCL-IF for my NAS and it is mini-itx. There are couple from Asorck rack available as well, and also mini-itx and with ipmi.
sashk··on Ask HN: People who use different emails everywhere, who sold you to spammers?
GitHub, linkedin, couple of smaller stores, who were hacked.
sashk··on GitHub Broken Download URLs
Ran into this issue when was updating package. But then, I did not find anywhere mentioned this url documented anywhere. I.e currently broken link to archives https://github.com/USER/REPO/archive/TAG/REPO-TAG.tar.gz vs currently working and documented URL https://github.com/USER/REPO/archive/refs/tags/TAG.tar.gz

Is there a list of pre-defined URLs supported by GitHub?

sashk··on Python 3.11
According to PEP-619[1], Python 3.10 release expected tomorrow, so no wonder work started on 3.11...

sashk··on US bans dog imports from more than 100 countries
I tried for months to adopt a dog -- none of the dogs I applied for were available for adoption the moment I submitted the application. Not sure if it was my luck, but after 20 applications I gave up.

edit: typo

sashk··on Boeing 757 cargo door opens after takeoff
Not frequent, but happened in the past. Example United 811 -- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Airlines_Flight_811
sashk··on What Ever Happened to ICQ? (2019)
I really missed ICQ when it started to die down with introduction of other messengers, which took over. I think mostly Skype was responsible, at least in my circles due to free audio calls... In any case, I still have my 6 digit UIN which works, despite I was told year or two ago it was deleted due to inactivity.
sashk··on Cloudflare: Is anyone else seeing DNS outages?
Yep, github actions failing because of this too.
sashk··on ICQ New
idk, but mine no longer works -- they deleted old numbers before releasing this new icq.
sashk··on Coronavirus has caused a bicycling boom in New York City
...if only there were dedicated bike lines. most of my commute on a bike takes those, but most of them are blocked by parked cars.
sashk··on Ask HN: GSuite users, how do you do Knowledge Management?
Issues in Gitlab, plus some wiki articles in various gitlab projects. GSuite really is on the way out for us, as only thing we utilize is email.
sashk··on Google open sources library to generate CLIs

sashk··on Ask HN: Any “Git diff”-like service but for when terms of conditions changes?
Unfortunately there is too much noise for some TOS.
sashk··on Open Source Enterprise Server OS
This reminds me about SmartOS[1].

sashk··on Gitlab More Than Doubles Valuation to $2.75B Ahead of Planned 2020 IPO
We need on-premise installation of Gitlab. Github enterprise was too expensive for a small team. Integrated CI/CD is a plus.
sashk··on I Lost My $50k Twitter Username (2014)
..and they refuse to change password (last time checked about a year ago) for my 6 digit id. That's secure.
sashk··on Thunderbird 68.0
> plugin which allows to set different identities for different folders

which plugin are you using?

sashk··on 1Password: Standalone / Local Vault Option Gone?
I feel exactly same. Recently I complained about decreased usability issues with re-worked 1Password mini and... felt exactly same. I won't be looking for a replacement just yet, but feeling is right there. Dropping support for standalone vaults is not unexpected development.
sashk··on Ask HN: What would your ideal issue tracker look like?
Fast, good search and stable UI.
sashk··on Homebrew 1.9.0
That explains everything... Thanks.
sashk··on Hexyl: A command-line hex viewer
I miss hiew.
sashk··on Homebrew 1.9.0
Is it me or homebrew became slower recently?

I recall that some commands where much faster. It takes on average 2.5 seconds to do brew search.

$ time brew search mpv ==> Formulae mpv

==> Casks mpv brew search mpv 2.34s user 0.59s system 67% cpu 4.348 total

This is not autoupdate — this is with set HOMEBREW_AUTO_UPDATE_SECS to 14400.

sashk··on Ask HN: Which domain registrar and hosting provider do you prefer?
I've been using namecheap. Their panel is straightforward, and prices are ok. $10/year for which tld? If .com they should be close, but above your target. For other tlds they have long price list.
sashk··on Dank-selfhosted: automated deployment of email, web, DNS, XMPP, ZNC on OpenBSD
This reminds me another OpenBSD-based project, but just for hosting emails — caesonia[1], which was recently discussed here[2].

sashk··on So far #macOS Mojave ships with Python 2.7.10
Yes, mine was duped to the same bug as yours.
sashk··on So far #macOS Mojave ships with Python 2.7.10
My bug report about inclusion of Python 3 was closed as duplicate, with original still open. Same for request to update to 2.7.13 (at time of High Sierra beta). Didn't bother to submit new bug this year.
sashk··on MkDocs 1.0
sphinx allows to test code snippets in the documentation. is this available in mkdocs?
sashk··on The sad state of RSS on the Mac
Reeder is the best right now, but author disappears for a long stretch of time without updates, then large release, few bug-fix releases and then again quiet time. Despite the fact he promised more frequent updates recently — he's been silent for a long time to think Reeder is dead. It's been crashing a lot lately, so not sure what to expect.
sashk··on The sad state of RSS on the Mac
Brent Simmons working on new open-source[1] rss reader for macOS — Evergreen[2]. Brent is original author of NetNewsWire. He recently posted screenshot[3] of current Evergreen state.

sashk··on Python 3.7 released
Usually, it should be within few days.

I don't see any pull requests yet.

3.5->3.6 python was updated in the same package, so I guess python 3.7 will replace python 3.6 too. You will get it after you run brew upgrade.
