scriptdevil··on The little book about OS development (2012) [pdf]
Why not just link it to http://littleosbook.github.io/ - While PDFs are fine, it takes so long for it to load when compared to a HTML page.
scriptdevil··on Samples for using LLVM and Clang as a library
I bought https://www.packtpub.com/application-development/getting-sta... recently. It seems like a fairly good book. I haven't finished it yet.
scriptdevil··on Role Playing Game for Your Career
I am currently in a big slump and totally lack motivation. I decided to try this out. Am I mistaken or is the sign-up sheet the only thing up currently?

If so, I would recommend you include a message in your automated reply saying that we would receive an invite soon or something on those lines. Currently, I got

> Thank you for signing up for in.do!

which seems to indicate that I am successfully enrolled in the service. However, the main page prompts me to share this with others. While I would definitely share this with others if I find it useful, why would I share something that is for now just a sign-up sheet?

scriptdevil··on Haskell, Monads and Purity
GHC Haskell has -fwarn-incomplete-patterns . Are you talking about something else?
scriptdevil··on Atreus: My Custom Keyboard
That already exists. The most popular modern variant is plover[1]. However, it might be hard to transition to.

scriptdevil··on StumpWM: A complete window manager in Lisp
Couldn't you simply parse the output of "acpi -b"?
scriptdevil··on Show HN: NomadList – The best cities to live and work remotely in
It misses Bangalore, India. You could live a good life for $750.00 a month. For an additional $35 a month, you can get a 60MBps internet connection. Weather is pretty pleasant throughout the year. You could sample quite an assortment of cuisines too. Meetups are fairly active as well. Negatives: Traffic is terrible, but I stay indoors most of the time. Vendors do not speak English, but the number of non-Indians is high and the one can speak in English in any mid-sized shop. Disclaimer: I am an Indian, but am not a native of Bangalore. I was initially resentful of having to stay in Bangalore, but of late have started liking the city.
scriptdevil··on Vim as Language
I use Emacs for almost all my work, but I find Vi(m)'s editing capability is superior. I use evil-mode and it does extremely well in emulating Vim. Even text-objects and ex-commands are available. ace-jump-mode and undo-tree are two other extensions that significantly improve my editing experience.

I find dired, tramp, org-mode, auctex, magit and good async support indispensible and the Vim equivalents are either less powerful or non-existent.

scriptdevil··on Is Rust web yet? Not really
I am rooting for Rust to succeed because I love strong types and the Rust type-system is a good bit more sophisticated than Go.
scriptdevil··on Is Rust web yet? Not really
Rust CI (rust-ci.org) is a good list of active Rust projects.

scriptdevil··on GNU Screen v.4.2.1
The status line syntax of screen was terrible. It was almost read like a magic incantation. tmux felt way better. I wonder if this changed at all.
scriptdevil··on Firefox and Flux: A New, Beautiful Browser is Coming
https://code.google.com/p/vimperator-labs/issues/detail?id=9...

Further, I have removed the tab-bar and use "b" exclusively for switching tabs.

scriptdevil··on Zed: The Next Phase
I was specifically talking about C-r file@function_name All the parts are fuzzy. So if I wanted to go to function install_local_package in helper_functions.py, I can type C-r h_fu@ins_l_p (pretty much like we use ido)

While I use Emacs for all my editing, this would have been cool to have.

scriptdevil··on Zed: The Next Phase
+1 on the search part. I think Sublime shines there. I cannot imagine spending $70 for an editor, but I would really like it if Emacs' code browsing was as smooth as sublime's @
scriptdevil··on Zed: The Next Phase
While I understand that it is useful to have semantic information (nothing stops Zed from having it from what I can see in its mode files which use ace-editor's modes currently), I don't really think a code-editor needs to come with semantic information for all languages it supports. I don't know if that is even possible in a generic way. I mean, the behaviour of scope itself isn't generic. There are dynamic-scoped languages (like elisp) vs block-scoped languages (Java) vs function-scoped languages (JavaScript) which are all syntax-highlighted by most popular editors. I would relegate such work to heavier IDEs.
