sdotdev··on Ask HN: Who is hiring? (August 2025)
everybody but nobody somehow
sdotdev··on Show HN: Lie on your resume – Applie-AI
I only say 'lie' to drive attention but it's not actually lying and more so 'amplifying' which doesn't get people in trouble
sdotdev··on Do not download the app, use the website
Having a website and then a PWA for the people that REALLY want that is what I think the best arrangement is. Especially with the control that the stores (specifically app store) can have on you, the freedom of a website is much better than an app.
sdotdev··on Show HN: Windows 7 GUI for the web
its crazy how good this library and Windows 7 in general looks even today. nice framework
sdotdev··on Ask HN: What are you working on? (July 2025)
working on a tool to help people lie on their resumes because the job market is ridiculous and who really has the energy to do "training" for an entry level retail job, applie-ai.com
sdotdev··on Running Shell Commands in Python
This is something I've always wondered about doing but never actually needed

Its nice to see that its possible though

sdotdev··on Show HN: Clone any web element to React and Tailwind with this Chrome extension
When i press the select element button and my cursor leaves that little window the window just closes, any reason why? Ill try in chrome browser but its not working right now
sdotdev··on Show HN: I built a word game. My mom thinks it's great. What do you think?
Your moms right for sure

I think adding a theme to all the words like food, names or something random like that could make it more fun. It could also make it easier to there's that too. Nice game though

sdotdev··on Show HN: SQLTest.online: A free, interactive SQL practice platform I built
Its like the tools I would use in school its really easy to use and good
sdotdev··on Show HN: Soundscapes and Lofi Player
I like how simple it is really convenient for if I want to study
sdotdev··on Show HN: Browser MCP – Automate your browser using Cursor, Claude, VS Code
Still slightly confused on what MCPs are but looking at this it does look useful
sdotdev··on Show HN: LLM prompt template to build backend APIs faster
I agree with this, what you put into the prompt will reflect in what you get out, so just be more detailed.
sdotdev··on Apple Needs to Get Out of the Way with AI
I agree, Apple is moving very slow relative to others and I feel as if the way for them to get ahead is to just be more open for once.
sdotdev··on Show HN: I built an extension to book Airbnbs directly
This is a really good idea, and I like how it befits both users and sellers.

I can see that both sides have free access, so do you have plans to monetise in the future? There really is a large potential for this.

sdotdev··on Show HN: I built an iOS app to read HN faster
I was genuinely looking for one this morning and this is perfect, exactly what I needed. Nice job!
sdotdev··on Show HN: Cascii – A portable ASCII diagram builder written in vanilla JavaScript
Nice job, its really easy to use
sdotdev··on Show HN: Learn where countries are on the world map with Spaced Repetition
I like how the position of the map changes to center another place or zooms in to really make you think.

only slight thing is that i wish the map had more contrast, apart from that this is great

sdotdev··on Show HN: Time Portal – Get dropped into history, guess where you landed
its nice but how does the points calculation work? I know its 5000 for time and 5000 for event, but with the time is it linear so 1 year away (for example) is -1 point, and 100 years away is -100 points? I feel it should give you more of a curve so if youre a couple years off/in the same decade you're score isn't that off. apart from that its good.
sdotdev··on Show HN: I made a streak tracker for ProductHunt
The interactive demo on the hero section is great, also it seems very useful and I probably would start using this.

Like you said making this remind you of lots of platforms that product hunt users have an overlap with would be great

sdotdev··on Show HN: I made a free IndiePa.ge Alternative to track and show your startups
Love it and might even use it but is there any customisation options with themes/visuals?

That's probably another thing you could have over indiepa.ge

sdotdev··on Show HN: I made a Image compressor that is free
I like how you can change the compression level but the only issue is that results box with the file and download button is too far down and i have to scroll to see anything happen so for a while I thought something was broken. Nice site though
sdotdev··on Show HN: Online multiplayer game made with grok3
If this was made 100% with grok then its crazy how it can get a full game going without your interference. Its really good
sdotdev··on How long before the machines print their own Terminators?
They could do it with supervision today but to have the thought and solely act on it? That would take way too long for it to even be a concern.
sdotdev··on Show HN: World-Price – Making international pricing transparent and reassuring
Please let me know how you find the landing page or the service itself!
sdotdev··on Ask HN: Little or even unknown website that you like to use?
https://shots.co - its a really nice and free mockup generator for apps and websites and looks really clean
sdotdev··on Show HN: Study League – The FIFA/NBA 2k for productivity
If you want to test leagues, copy and paste this code on the leagues page: "9tblLS". Thank you for testing.
sdotdev··on Show HN: Study League – Gamified, AI-Driven Study Platform with Instant Rewards

sdotdev··on Show HN: MoodieMoovy – A free; movie recommender with a strong algorithm
So the method I chose was mapping and intersecting.

What happens is that for each day of the week, time, and mood, there are genres that fit most with these times, according to general data I had found from various articles over time.

I then get the users selected inputs and lay out all the genres. I see if there are any intersections/patterns in all 3 and if so, I store that for use to find movies. If there are no common genres, I map only the mood to the day then the mood to the time, as I think mood is the most powerful factor, and see intersections there and store them.

Then it's just a simple search for movies of that genre with the provider and that's all.

If you have any further questions feel free to ask.

Thanks,

Although Joker and relaxed may not combine for you, the day and time of day could also affect the results giving the variation of movies it gives. Obviously it could use refinements and upgrades but for the most part was it majorly incorrect at all?
