No matter how good your case is - if you use AI slop to spam text, I will not read it. At the least they admitted to this sneaky slopness, which saves me time. I'd wish everyone would do so.

So far all these fines have been "ugh that's one day of net profits only", be it at Google, Apple, Microsoft, Facebook - you name it. Are there kickbacks involved to keep the fines at a minimum?

- Unfortunately, and this is an even bigger problem for more people in the future: Putin has no interest and desire, but also no longer any real possibility to end his war. He married the thought of the war to not only his own personal survival but that of imperialistic Russia. While many think Putin is insane, I think the path of escalation "makes sense" IF you are willing to use nukes. While the USA meta-jabait trolls ("he won't use nukes"), I am pretty certain that he would. Which then brings us to the biggest question here:
- Why is the EU not already mass-producing nukes for all member states?
It can not continue that terrorists such as Putin continue to threaten europeans with total annihilation. Relying on the USA is a losing strategy; a replacement for NATO is necessary, one that can also include more actors, including Canadians. Either way I do not understand european politicians refusing to build up a nuclear arsenal for all members in the EU. That makes no sense. We all know Russia under Putin will continue to escalate daily. At some point these EU politicians then have to answer why they did not build up nukes. Agent Krasnov will never harm his business partner - he maximizes on his own personal wealth. Worst US president ever but best russian asset.

The movie was well-planned by Francis - but the mafia is a mass-murder organisation, without exception. Japan finally got the better of Yakuza for the most part (it is nowhere near as powerful as it was once); Italy still struggles, in particular with regards to Ndrangheta. So any article that attempts to white-wash the mafia in Italy - nope, sorry, not even good movies such as the godfather should disguise the mass-murder organisation. Let's put it short: the mafia needs to be eliminated completely. It's not easy since they infiltrated so much in Italy and in parts elsewhere (just study how Capone in the USA got big, then you realise that the USA has an even bigger problem here - plus, fentanyl too), but it has to be done. There is no alternative unless you want organisations to undermine the state and continue its genocidal tendencies. You can be sure they are also involved in smuggling weapons, thus contributing to genocide outside of Italy directly as well.

Why can't the EU learn more from Canada? Canada realised that with Trump there is no way to make a deal. So cut things down where possible, diversify - the EU still has to learn this lesson. In particular Germany is totally US-addicted - no idea why, other than, of course, the obvious answer ("we need to export into the USA", aka selfish greed from Germany here).
So while more alternatives here are the logical answer, as well as eliminate the greedy US corpoations, I am not sure NixOS as it is right now is ideal. On paper, NixOS should solve EVERYTHING. For instance, if a build status works for one user, the environment guarantee should mean it works for EVERYONE ELSE. Same with other problems and hardware, so in theory, NixOS should be perfect.
In practice, though, I found working with NixOS annoying, for many reasons. A static system that has issues, is not good. A static system that restricts me in problem solving, is not good. Plus, Nix is ugly to no ends - I have no idea why the NixOS team thought a new programming language is required. Why do I need to define static elements in Nix? Why not make that more free form? I already describe my whole system via yaml files, which in turn ruby uses to generate everything I need. Then there are smaller issues, like why do I need to use systemd on NixOS, why can I not used versioned AppDirs with a name scheme similar to GoboLinux (hashed program directories on NixOS are, of course, also versioned app-dirs, but I hate reading 7897389nughuewz789gewh2t93h923-hghwugeiw73, that simply tells me nothing. Why not have /Programs/Python/3.15.0/ ? It can't be simpler than that.)
Anyway - good for the Netherlands to push here, Denmark, Sweden, Finland will also push, even France, though slower. Now please everyone, help us convince the german government to stop being such a tool for Trump. Merz is a failure anyway, but the problems go far deeper than merely Trump, and with the AfD going to seize power, idiocy will again dominate in Germany. That's very bad. Germany is soooooooo slow here. Microsoft even managed to kill LiMux years ago. They have placed their economic hitmen in Germany, so the whole EU does not work anyway because Germany will keep on dragging every other country down. It is thus very understandable why real innovation comes from the smaller countries in the EU, as they are quicker to innovate. Unfortunately the big german behemoth will roll over them and again cripple many required things in the EU.
I would be highly sceptical of the claim "antitumor immunity". It sounds like an ad.

That DHH is into AI agents everywhere is easy to see, but if you go to rails-con, would you not expect this to be about rails as such, and people? Now it's about rust - and AI. Controlled by big corporations. Yikes - some people must be upset about having gone there to listen to DHH preaching about an agentic future.
Edit: I also watched parts of the recent youtube video about rails. I could not focus on the content because DHH's style was so strange. I've seen that style before - nothingburger talks. Look at phrases he used such as "I have retired from being a professional programmer/software engineer". This is all aimed to hype up "agentic coding is the future". Rails is dead - that video is all the proof one needs. DHH shifted gears to AI, and it is quite similar to when he first promoted rails. But now it is about AI, not rails.
You can say "ride the wave", but this is more - this is helping the wave become huge. And cashing in too. Sorry, but I no longer buy any of what these guys do. To me they seem like BigBro ad-clowns.

For instance, the article quite clearly makes a connection between money being pumped into Omarchy, and this, in turn, most likely leading to a linux distributions that would quite possibly be beneficial to various Big Bro agendas (plus, advertisement for AI in general, aka "look ma, AI slop produced this AWESOME distribution"; and by the way, rails marketing was EXACTLY like that in 2007 or 2008 too). This in turn points to the possibility that Omarchy is a Big Bro project. Another connection made is that this will be used to maximize costly token sales. Now - the author does not provide strong statements on the latter, but the former is already known. Look at the "donors" and "sponsors". Tell me this has zero influence? We could already see this before with shopify, and DHH is part of that group. Look how much influence they bought in ruby; see how developers got whacked out of ruby due to that, who then built https://gem.coop/about/faq/. There is definitely an influence via money - there is no denying that.
As for not having much to say about a five hours interview - well. That could be the fault of the author. Or perhaps DHH does not have anything substantially to say for five hours. Who knows. Some of the pro-Omarchy comments are strange.
Now - personally I have not tried Omarchy, because I have no need for it. I compile about 99% of what I do from source, via ruby scripts, and if I need something I add it, if time permits. Most of the time I stay on the terminal/commandline and just do things there; sometimes I use the browser, editor, rarely mpv for local stuff, evince for pdf reading. I think that covers around 90% of the uses I have on linux. I have no need for a special linux distribution, having first built LFS in around 2006 or so.
With that out of the way ... I don't like the AI slop, so using AI slop generated distributions, is already an instant nope for me. But even aside from that, I don't fully understand why Omarchy exists. With all the money that the big boys inject, I have a slight suspicion that this is a corporate linux project. I have no interest in that.
Also, aside from this, ever since DHH tried to manipulate readers into connecting homeless people to shooting down wolves, is the moment I stopped caring about DHH. The guy is nuts. And if you read the above comment, it seems he finally decided to abandon ruby and rails - that would be great, but in reality it is actually not, since ruby already went into extinction decline. Matz or Hiroshi Shibata only "communicating" with others through AI spam slop, is also another last-entry into the coffin situation now. It's sad. It seems as if some folks are so convinced about AI that they don't understand that it causes a lot of damage and problems. Some noticed this, others did not. And you can not change anything here either.

I can't evaluate this, but it would make sense. The Big Bros want money and influence, so their mercenaries will do all they can to further this goal. These are the modern economic hitmen; people such as Sebastian Kurz (suddenly he is a millionaire, one of the top 100 richest folks in Austria, thanks to AI spam slop). I am sorry but I am too old to not call bullshit on any of these. The USA is basically run by a syndicate - Trump is just making this more obvious due to his dementia, but there is so much money behind that sustains criminal energy. By the way, how big was the Epstein network really? Only Ghislaine is in prison. She has organised all of this on her own? Well, typically, if you are in public, you can do just about anything with regards to recording. In private the laws are a bit different. Either way it is a barrier.
Now I don't depend on CIAbook, formerly known as Facebook, in any way, shape or form. And I don't use Suckerberg's Spyglasses either - hopefully others feel in a similar way, but unfortunately money convinces people, and I noticed a few "auditors" using spyglasses allegedly for "protection" (though, why they don't use normal vide cameras instead, beats me - perhaps they are not truthful). I fear that the spyglasses will be a success since Suckerberg is so sold on spying on mankind. If Google were not to exist, Facebook would be the number #1 evil company right now.

Also, I would like to know what further associations exist. Has Anthropic filed any patents with this regard? Those promo-articles are only aimed at making a company look great. We need to know the fine details too. After all you could fully automate a modern lab, no need for humans (all the lab work you can have robots do; China already does that, and if AI agents operate, you really don't need any human - so why does Anthropic use humans? Something is missing in that picture here clearly).
Lately I noticed more and more youtube folks try in-video advertisements. These are a bit harder to catch by ublock origin. In the past, I would manually skip this, but recently I decided that if someone has a need to sell some ad-crap, I simply no longer care and insta-close the tab. That is actually much more efficient. And if many people do so, we'll see fewer pester-ads in general. I understand the "but this is how I make my money" - even that still does not make me want to care about wasting my life on any ads whatsoever, no matter which fancypants excuse is used.
In concluding, I now suspect that OpenAI must suck, since they depend on propaganda outlets (aka "influencers"; I don't call them "influencers", they are scummy people who work on something like mercenaries would, just on the propaganda department. Any regular guy cleaning the streets with a broom, has 10000x more credibility than these "influencers" - but does not make as much money as these bribed individuals).
If I were Github I would improve the wiki, a bit stylistically, to make it more visually pleasing to use (but not much, those designers always go overboard when making changes in my experience), but much more importantly so, to make the wiki a more flexible addition, including API-wise, usage examples, documentation and so forth. People can, in principle, do so on their own, but also from experience, most people stop doing so after a while, and then the wiki decays into outdated information. That's bad too. Spawning more issues to manage the wiki also does not work well.
But also your comment of "pure addiction" is simply wrong, because nicotine is more addictive than what you have in a vape (at the least with regards to level of concentration). I don't know why you think cigarettes would be better anywhere than vaping. It's just wrong. And both should be avoided anyway; people should not fall for the lie that vaping is better, but even less so that cigarettes is better. Why promote damaging substances anyway? Damage to lung cells exist via vaping too. People seem to forget that. They did not even know that asbesto fibers are damaging for a long time.
I understand that this is not possible for everyone, as the brain works differently and some just have a harder push towards addiction by default (but also habit). But the most successful quitters I know of in reallife, more than half a dozen actually, were those who just decided to quit it. In theory lowering down to e. g. vapes and what not may help, but I know some who then just went back to their old habits, and kept on lying to themselves about it. The brain is great at finding excuses, so people may need to try different ways to handle the brain. It is not the cigarette as such nor vape or the addiction as the main problem - it is how the brain works and operates. What is also interesting is that many people do not even realise that, how they self-trick themselves into being addicts. (I am aware that it is very hard to break out of the cycle for many people too; not saying it may be easy for everyone. Often people have additional problems once in addiction, financial ones, physical problems, depression and so forth.)
