It seems, with copilot it's mixed. Sometimes it regurgitates blocks of existing code, other times it can apply context and patterns to create boilerplate code.
Aside from being an endless game of whack-a-mole, I feel the race to deplatform undermines ideological diveristy and other key civic values.
Has there been any reduction in the number of misthinkers? Anecdotally, no.
Maybe it's best to step back and look at the bigger picture:
- Why are people seeking out this type of content?
- Why has there been an increase in the fragmentation of American (and Western) society?
- Why do so many of us feel so alone, despite being more connected?
Society is ill. I am unsure of the underlying problem but think it may be related to a lack of civic education and governments needing to reevaluate their end of the social contract.
The closer I get to 40, the more anxious I grow after reading stories like this. Guess I can just let it motivate me to appreciate those in my life and push me towards achieving goals.
Rest well Peter.
Perhaps this rewrite may yield better results:
"King of Belgium gives a speech to an audience of cucumbers"
Great job communicating here.
And I think there is something to that in the sense that when you are in that hole, when just pulling yourself out of bed seems like a monumental task akin to moving a mountain -- these adages ring hollow and seem beyond reach. I know what I need to do when in despair, making it all the more frustrating.
At that point I think the most important skills are to challenge negative thought patterns, and work towards tiny victories (showering, eating, getting dressed for the day). Once I have some momentum, going for a run or walk no longer seems impossible.
Point being, I feel telling those who are in the midst of a low its so simple can be counter-productive... Its kind of simple, muddled by our cognitive distortions.
This was all made very clear to me when I began addressing my mental health about 4 years when I was first hospitalized during a manic episode.
During 2 years of outpatient treatment at the clinic for the Neurosciences at the Univ. of TX -- it was stressed meds are no panacea. For mood disorders they were big proponents of interpersonal and social rhythm therapy[0]. I believe the approach was similar for those with unipolar depression as well.

The initial impressions are that production ready designs will require an artists touch. But this discussion was in the context of AA-Games and up. For indie and small games fully AI produced art may be fine.
It would logically follow that the implicit "consent of the governed", and close ties with domestic companies merits extending this anger to Russian businesses.
But I think to myself, is this really fair? I served in the US army during the GWOT and deployed, I struggle with reconciling the atrocities of the US government with my steadfast allegiance. Even as an expat, I still hold a deep affection for the US, warts and all.
Would it be fair to harbor animus for US companies? I'd think so, if they enabled war crimes. But what if it's just an entity or subsidiary? Should that negate all the good work of employees with no connection to the company's national security or defense contracts?
Take Boeing for example [0], should we be contemptuous of every Boeing engineer because a subsidiary coordinated the CIA's extraordinary rendition torture flights?

My guess is that since this is a NZ company, that country's laws should apply, but Glassdoor being a US entity necessitates a US court applying (or enforcing) the law or judgment of NZ. For whatever strategic reason, their legal team sought a judgement in the US first.

1. Service level agreement for n years explicitly stated at release?
2. Release a binary containing the bare necessites of the title's backend services (stripped of any analytics or proprietary stuff)?
3. Something else?
Whats frustrating is that studios and publishers (should) have an idea of what the lifetime cost for each player is, so they can price the game appropriately. I wish it were industry best practice for large studios to be transparent at release and state "we can support this game for a minimum of 10 years, if it's a hit, longer".
Voter ID is a non controversial issue in many countries. In the US I've seen arguments against it from both sides. Disparate impact concerns from the left, privacy and freedom from the feds on the right.
The primary constituency of both parties is corporate America, whom they rely on for donations.
I had a front row seat to this in 2010, during my stint as a creditor's rights attorney.
It was this odd tango of homeowners who would strategically default, and creditors dragging their feet throughout the foreclosure process.
It was implied that as long as the property was sufficiently maintained, the creditors would waive the deficiency judgement when they decided to foreclose. They would try to limit the number of foreclosures in a neighborhood or zip code to prevent saturating a given areas market.
Kind of a brilliant win win. No cost living for up to 3 years for being a good caretaker. That's the only bright side to it. It was savage and emotionally taxing, I'm glad to be a debt now.
I've put off starting a family until my mid 30s due to being abandoned by my mother as a child. Luckily, my dad did all he could to shower me with love and raise me well. It took a while for me to truly appreciate him (early 30s) and accept he will always be there.
When my time comes to be a dad, I hope to harness the patience and empathy of great parents like you and my dad.
I think this has frayed the fabric of society by damaging the reciprocity that binds families and communities, and encourages divisive and antisocial, short-term behaviors over long-term, collective decision-making.
This varies across our rich tapestry of subcultures, but I see it everywhere. Especially among government and business leaders.
Nothing/no one prepared me for the sun rising at 3 am in May... It was quite an interesting first year.
With a diagnosis you are equipped with updated instructions for yourself.
For instance, if you are having a hard time focusing on getting some work done, rather than fighting it or beating yourself up about it (my frequent go to), you can enact some behavioral intervention to help get you back on course.
It helps to reflect on what, if anything, could be done to set yourself to avoid these problems in the future.
The probability of me having a good day increases with the following: physical activity, good hydration, sleep hygeine, and not to beat myself up if things go awry.
If you go with meds, you must meet your meds half way.
FWIW, I have heard they are hands-off and offer resources, like great groups for closed alphas.
The only concern I have is that they can become more hands on and excersie control over creative decisions in the future.
Personally, I value good stories from mid sized indy studios. The dominance of 2 engines can make things feel a bit homogenized. Pair a great story with another engine, and my interest is piqued.
Tencent and Microsoft have both spread a lot of money around. Perhaps for varying reasons, namely MS needs to make up for the lack of titles developed for the Xbox Series, and add titles to Game Pass to make it more a more attractive offering.
Sweden was an outlier in keeping schools open, premised upon the rationale that social and mental wellbeing outweighed the risk covid posed to students[0].
I relocated from NYC to Stockholm early in the pandemic which gave me some interesting insights on comparative covid responses.
