taskforcegemini··on Nuclear reactors a mile underground promise safe, cheap power
yes, who cares about the generations that come after us. We used to dump barrels with this kind of waste into the sea and nothing bad ever happened with those.

a recent windows update changed my black background to random pictures (changes on login). now I have to activate windows to be able to change it back, because now I "see" it all the time
taskforcegemini··on Linux Memory Overcommit (2007)
>Secondly, running without swap will cause bad performance (like, whole system freezing for a long time)

in my experience it is exactly the opposite. unless you swap onto ssds, swapping will grind the whole system to a halt, while without swap the oom-reaper will kill the culprit and you can immediately work on the system to check/fix things. result also depends on your applications of course.

taskforcegemini··on Study Finds Brain Area Regulating Attention and Wakefulness
The real question is if there was or even still is a benefit to having it, that just isn't beneficial for the individual to survive in our society.
taskforcegemini··on Talos: Secure, immutable, and minimal Linux OS for running Kubernetes
is there a reason you can't just boot from usb? it sounds like the perfect match. I've built immutable bootsticks in the past that run in ram only (but with other distros). hetzner for instance lets you rent usb-sticks for their dedicated servers
taskforcegemini··on Wcurl: a curl wrapper to download files

you would give russia a platform in NATO? I think russian wars with its neighbors speak for itself (and not just with Ukraine) to keep them out. NATO is for instance needed to keep russian imperialismus away from europe. It's also a deterrent against China, North Korea, Serbia etc

to be fair, some of that money is used for the curation of current knowledge
taskforcegemini··on Understanding SPF, DKIM, and DMARC: A Simple Guide
t-online uses a global whitelist, which is pretty stupid for e-mail. sometimes it helps contacting them, other times they refuse to resolve it for arbitrary reasons (not because of actual spamming)

>This approach mitigates the risk of creating ghettos or economically segregated areas, which can be more detrimental to societal cohesion.

it's not working that well, there are plenty of "hotspots". Districts usually have specific demographies. there are wealthy districts and then there are districts that mostly have people from other countries (turkey, serbia etc)
