that fact you think it looks so good that it deceives is a point for ai.

the point is to make a quality meme fast. the guy he replied to appreciated it.

any fan of xkcd knows the original.

theultdev··on You can make PS2 games in JavaScript
I'd like to see metrics on that. But intuitively I'd say AI is faster.

Basically it's opening the tab and typing your thought vs speed running paint.

@sandermvanvliet what was the process and how long do you estimate it took you?

Personally it would take me awhile to find the template, the exact font and get the positioning just right.

I could make a crude one fast, and I've seen many crude versions of this meme. But matching the font is a bit more work, maybe there's a generator for it, but that's not paint nor do I know where it exists.

theultdev··on Measuring political bias in Claude
People differ in how they view what is morally right.

Illegal immigration for example.

Some may say it's immoral to not allow illegal immigration, those people are just searching for a better life.

Others point out that by looking past that you allow the exploitation of workers, the estrangement of families, and of course the horrors of the coyotes that rape, extort, and enslave those people.

Another one is crime reform (ie, releasing prisoners, no cash bail). Those who support it believe they are being compassionate of prisoners while often missing the compassion for the victims those criminals hurt and incentivizing further crime.

Sometimes one is so tunnel visioned in their moral argument, they cannot see that choice causes harm to others, often greater harm.

> Epstein and pohl are down here in Florida

Wow that's damning pohl, prove you weren't with him.

Even if you provide detailed logs of your whereabouts, that won't be enough because I assume you're lying.

Hearsay is a bitch isn't it.

theultdev··on A graph explorer of the Epstein emails
By all means investigate away on the thanksgiving email, you will find nothing as nothing exists.

Choosing resources to investigate hearsay that is easily disproven is a waste of time though when you have actual evidence of direct correspondence.

Noone is falling for this crap anymore btw. The Trump smear stuff doesn't work as everyone cried wolf too many times.

Very telling you spend this much energy on a silly email talking about Trump vs people who actually talked and met with Epstein.

theultdev··on A graph explorer of the Epstein emails
You have the standard of evidence reversed.

You need to prove what you're accusing him of, not the other way around.

theultdev··on A graph explorer of the Epstein emails
> on a thread discussing messages that prove that wasn't the case

Point to the messages that proves that wasn't the case.

theultdev··on A graph explorer of the Epstein emails
Sure. What evidence would you like to use to lock Trump up?

Point to an email in this dump or anything else.

It's clear as day Trump cut ties when he found out who he was and was against him.

Not so much for others.

theultdev··on A graph explorer of the Epstein emails
Yes, but the the summaries generated are referenced with sources.

Care to dispute the summaries using the sources?

theultdev··on A graph explorer of the Epstein emails
This entire thread is about AI generated content from emails.

But we are human, so we can verify sources collected by AI. Care to dispute anything?

theultdev··on A graph explorer of the Epstein emails
Yeah it's most likely he snuck out from the SS and had thanksgiving with a pedo while president. /s

No reason to talk about anyone who actually corresponded with Epstein I guess.

theultdev··on A graph explorer of the Epstein emails
You think he snuck out from secret service and had an off-the-book thanksgiving with a pedo?

I'm saying there's no direct evidence he did and on face value it's ridiculous.

He was meeting the troops and golfing with Tiger Woods and happened to be in the same state Epstein had a house in.

Have any evidence otherwise, or just conspiracy theories?

theultdev··on A graph explorer of the Epstein emails
That's a lie that has already been proven false since Trump's entire trip was documented.

Love how we have actual evidence against people but discussions always devolve into some conspiracy related to Trump.

----

Based on the available evidence, there is no confirmed meeting between Trump and Epstein in 2017. While both men were in Palm Beach during Thanksgiving week 2017, there is no direct evidence they met.

Here's what we know about their presence in Palm Beach that week:

- Trump was at Mar-a-Lago from November 21-26, 2017

- Epstein owned a mansion in Palm Beach and was known to be in the area

- Epstein mentioned both Trump and himself being "down there" (Palm Beach) in an email exchange on November 23, 2017

While there were claims circulating online that Trump spent Thanksgiving with Epstein in 2017, these claims have been thoroughly investigated and found to be unsubstantiated

Trump's official calendar for that week shows his activities included:

- Thanking military members on a virtual call

- Visiting Coast Guard members at Lake Worth Inlet Station

- Playing golf with Tiger Woods and Dustin Johnson

theultdev··on A graph explorer of the Epstein emails
Especially when Epstein was paying off journalists at the NYT and intimidating other outlets.

But point being those people that were friends with him had to know. Whether it was socially acceptable by the elite because the public wasn't aware isn't very relevant.

theultdev··on A graph explorer of the Epstein emails
Of course, deflect discussion to Trump. Does that make any of those other people look better to you?

Trump gave information against Epstein in 2009 and unlike Bill and others did cut ties after learning he was poaching girls from Mar-a-Lago.

I specifically made the point to look into those who were friends with Epstein even after knowing what he was doing.

Nice whataboutism though. Feel free to reference source materials to support your claims.

Btw are you a bot or is that just a canned statement you use?

theultdev··on A graph explorer of the Epstein emails
This is the best rendition I've seen so far.

The Bill Clinton entity is interesting.

> 2009: Bill Clinton discontinued association with Jeffrey Epstein

> 2010: Jeffrey Epstein provided flights on jets to Bill Clinton

> 2010-2011: Jeffrey Epstein traveled via private aircraft with Bill Clinton

> 2011: Ghislaine Maxwell piloted helicopter for Bill Clinton

> 2014: Bill Clinton alleged presence at sex parties

> 2015: Bill Clinton distanced relationship from Jeffrey Epstein

Wasn't very good at discontinuing the relationship it seems.

Guess there is precedent for him lying about sexual activities though.

I think a sentiment analysis between the friendliness and social meetups between Epstein and other individuals would be useful.

Who were his friends after 2008 when he was first convicted?

Those who were still friends with him after 2008 were in on it or guilty by association, if not legally, socially.

Friends like Reid Hoffman and Larry Summers...

Larry Summers has too many to list. Doesn't look good though digging through them.

theultdev··on Show HN: Epstein Files Organized and Searchable
That's from 2016 and it's widely accepted as being a hoax. She may or may not even exist as she's never been seen publicly or by reporters trying to verify the claim.

The court documents referencing Johnson were filed in California and New York but were dismissed or withdrawn due to lack of credibility and proper legal standing. The plaintiff provided false contact information, including the address of a foreclosed home, and repeatedly failed to appear for scheduled press conferences despite promises to do so.

The claims were tied to Norm Lubow, a former producer for "The Jerry Springer Show," who used the pseudonym Al Taylor to promote the allegations.

Lubow admitted to Snopes in 2024 that he was behind the Al Taylor persona and had helped draft the initial lawsuit and publicize the claims, though he maintained the story was true.

theultdev··on Anthropic invests $50B in US AI infrastructure
Ideally we could get rid of everything for nuclear, but that's not today's reality. The truth is natural gas is needed to transition off of coal and has helped reduce emissions.

That being said, I would like to reduce those drilling rigs. However I don't see their existence justification for more damage by putting up windmills.

It's classic whataboutism. Both things can be harmful.

Below is an exercise to help point it out.

> Like our lands and oceans are not littered ... already

Without the "what about" subject, this statement looks bad doesn't it?

That reasoning is no different than the people who see trash on the ground and throw more because it's already trashed, so why not.

theultdev··on Redmond, WA, turns off Flock Safety cameras after ICE arrests
I really don't see how pointing out history or highlighting political positions of a party is combative, but okay.

I'm aware of my run ins with you and dang and regret hitting that threshold, but it's never intentional.

I never attack a person directly, even though I have witnessed it being done and others have done it to me.

theultdev··on Anthropic invests $50B in US AI infrastructure
> Aah a True Bird Lover.

You don't know me, but yes birds are a passion of mine.

I don't particularly like drilling oils and we should transition off.

Does that justify the damage windmills do? No.

> Does this mean you support banning plastic straws too? All plastics are essentially unrecyclable.

https://s7d1.scene7.com/is/image/CENODS/10027-cover-casper-o...

I support as little waste as possible. Everything adds up. Especially giant windmills.

> By all means. If it can be done as cheaply as wind and solar.

Nuclear is cheap and safe, it's the damn bureaucracy that's expensive.

Let's get real, stop putting up trash, and start boiling water.

theultdev··on Anthropic invests $50B in US AI infrastructure
Yes they will, they will prefer natural gas of those two. The main reason of emission reductions as we transition off of coal.

I really hope we go all in on nuclear though, with some natural gas and get rid of the windmills. Solar, hydro, geothermal can stay where it makes sense.

Unfortunately our skies and land are littered with windmills made out of unrecyclable polymers that are terrible for raptors.

Queue someone quoting how many cats kill birds like competing with the top predator is a good thing, or ignoring the fact that we put these in raptors' wind streams and cats don't hunt those large birds (which are usually endangered)

Our kids deserve nuclear.

theultdev··on Anthropic invests $50B in US AI infrastructure
Google is working with Kairos Power for nuclear reactors at their datacenters.

Microsoft struck a deal with Three Mile Island to get a reactor up.

And Amazon is working with Talen Energy.

Might be others I missed.

theultdev··on Anthropic invests $50B in US AI infrastructure
That's not a way forward, that's standing still.

I'm all for more efficient usage, and it's in AI companies best interest to do so to minimize costs.

...but it's a growing industry, it will need more power.

theultdev··on Anthropic invests $50B in US AI infrastructure
I don't care what they use. Nuclear preferred but whatever works for the area.

Natural gas is the main reason our emissions have gone down as it replaces coal.

Also I don't think forcing is necessary. These datacenters want to, why impose more regulations.

theultdev··on Anthropic invests $50B in US AI infrastructure
the administration is allowing datacenters to be utilities and build their own power plants, nuclear or otherwise.

the excess can be sold to the grid.

it's really the only way forward. seems like a win/win.

theultdev··on Redmond, WA, turns off Flock Safety cameras after ICE arrests
I don't see in any way how my comment was flamebait.

It's a political discussion, either allow it fully or don't.

Leaving one sided statements up like the GP is not a discussion.

My response was a real retort to that belief that America wouldn't function without below minimal-wage exploitation of illegal aliens.

Referencing the morals of the same justification for slavery is a valid point.

theultdev··on Redmond, WA, turns off Flock Safety cameras after ICE arrests
Just as I suspected, spin.

They were specifically talking about Haitians and the TPS status.

He's saying they had no right to do that under the law.

It's the same mess they got us into with DACA.

So you have illegal aliens, protected under these very fragile and most likely unconstitutional EOs, when it's really not their authority.

I partly agree with your original statement "changes to suit those in power". Yes, that is the problem, when Democrats are in power.

It is the authority of CONGRESS. Vance is respecting that authority and saying he's ignoring the blatant disregard of it during the Biden admin.

I'm all for adjusting our immigration laws. But things like TPS and DACA just cause more problems.

Until then, enforce the current laws on the books.

Those other programs are revoked just as easily as they were added, because that's not how you do it.

theultdev··on Redmond, WA, turns off Flock Safety cameras after ICE arrests
I highly doubt he said that, you may want to provide a direct quote and source if you are going to throw that out there.

Illegal alien is a legal term and conflating legal and illegal immigration is disingenuous to the conversation.

theultdev··on Redmond, WA, turns off Flock Safety cameras after ICE arrests
Nope. It's coded in our laws. It is a legal term.
