In no way is illegal immigration "good for America".
Hundreds of years of progress and known limitations.
They failed immediately because of a storm.
> The 136-metre-long vessel had to rely partly on its auxiliary motor and its remaining sail after the aft sail was damaged in a storm shortly after departure.
Used the motor "shortly after departure".
I will test it out and report any abnormalities I see!
Had never heard of the MLS soccer league until just now.
This is a tech forum.
That makes you think about those things.
You get overwhelmed.
Others live day to day.
Ignorance is bliss.

I watch a lot of airplane disasters.
TLDR: you are supposed to properly disassemble and use a proper lift to lower the engine, not shove it in with a fork lift (even though it's quicker).
I don't think this was the cause of this accident though, the engine was on fire before takeoff.
Not an airplane engineer, but I very much doubt anyone has used a forklift to install an engine since 191. Procedures got much more strict.
You can't be arguing in good faith as it's clear as day the general sentiment difference between the posts.
How many glorifying top comments did you scroll through to find him being called evil?
Fidel Castro executed and tortured people.
Jack Welch fired some people.
The general sentiment towards Welch's death was very negative.
The general sentiment towards Castro's death was very positive.
Does that clear things up?
Pretty much sums up his HN death post, while you'll find mostly praise for Castro.
You'd think Welch executed and tortured people and Castro was a saint.
You forgot the mention the political prisoners, torture, executions, and the authoritarian regime overall.
Thousands have risked their lives trying to escape it.
The juxtaposition of the comments between Welch and Castro is appalling.
Cheney and Castro are closer in terms that they both caused unnecessary death, but one gets praise upon death, and the other condemnation.
It's a pretty stark difference depending on the political alignment. Scan the tone of these comments, and then scan Castro's for example:

Jack Welch is also another that didn't receive much love here:
(and he certainly was not as controversial or brutal as Castro)
Agree with the KV point, Upstash is the same. But I just use dragonflydb on a single VM. No point paying for transactions.
Hell, S3 could have 20ms latency and it wouldn't matter since I can't afford it.
Cloudflare actually has built in iceberg support for R2 buckets. It's quite nice.
Combine that with their pipelines it's a simple http request to ingest, then just point duckdb to the iceberg enabled R2 bucket to analyze.
Lack of server/dynamic code qualifies as no backend.
not a python developer, so not sure it's equivalent as the npm registry is shared between all.
Never does.
Someone barking orders at you to generate code because they are too stupid to be able to read it is not very fun.
These people hire developers because their own brains are inferior, and now they think they can replace them because they don't want to share the wages with them.
I don't see how you could think 7 engineers would love the workload of 20 engineers, extra tooling or not.
Have fun with the tech debt in a few years.
> code is getting less and less important in our team
> the engineers aren't complaining
lays off engineers for ai trained off of other engineer's code and says code is less important and engineers aren't complaining.
Not the lack of supply but shutdown on purpose due to the risk of power lines causing fires?
Seems burying them would be a more effective use of money if you're trying to solve blackouts.
Noone is saying it's acceptable, just offering advice on how to mitigate the situation.
Should is the keyword of your last sentence. In a perfect world sure, but the world is not that.
You never know, you may even become friends. Doesn't hurt to attempt once at least.
Better to just have the cup of coffee and see.
You'd be surprised how easy it is to disarm people with kindness, you should try it.
it's very effective in a lot of cases, with no downside.
best case scenario, they were unaware and re-adjust how they talk to you.
worst case scenario, you know they are just being an asshole and you can go back to hating them.
If it all fails, my go to is patronizing kindness to taunt. Much better than complaining or arguing.
Crossings are lower overall due to securing of the border.
Easy to inflate deportations when you catch the same fish and the river is flowing.
Much slower when you dam off the river and have to dig the remaining catfish out of the mud.
