So you’re using whataboutism as an argument. I never said the Waltons weren’t exploitive. My argument is that Bezos is at the extreme for exploitive behavior considering his massive wealth. He could make less money and give his employees more. He could change company policy to improve employees’ lives. Instead he hoards wealth and sucks as much out of his employees as possible.
I notice you had no reply to his comment about exploitation of workers. Why is pointing out Bezos’ massive wealth disparity “tired”? I think it needs to get brought up in every discussion about Amazon to point out how little he cares about other human beings that he accumulates so much wealth at the expense of tens of thousands of people.
Amazon could very well be the next target. Their practice of driving out smaller resellers in a category and then jacking up prices could be looked at as an antitrust issue.
Just one point, but I know that we submitted a complaint to the DOJ about Google’s sudden maps and street view API pricing changes. Their “free until there’s no competition, then we take all of your money” business model fits in the antitrust regulations. We’re hoping they include that.
Notice that no Googlers have a good response to this or the Eric Schmidt / Hillary Clinton connection. Google’s ties to the Obama administration were deep.
You mean like China forcing foreign companies to turn over technology to Chinese companies to eventually be used to compete against them? Who could ever trust a country that does that, or that imprisons millions of people based on their religion?
Aside from the fact that this article originally came from a sensationalist tabloid (the Sun), there is only the word of the one person, without even a quote from his girlfriend. The whole thing sounds fishy.
A lot of things related to hacking (like phreaking) are about getting things for free, so it seems like it’s in the spirit of the name of the site, at least.
I’m guessing (hoping, really) that Peter Robb is out at the NLRB in two years and someone far less right-wing replaces him. The biggest issue is that the NLRB hasn’t been pro-worker in a long time.
It’s a privacy concern because it can still track your comings and goings. And even the codes were personalized to each tenant, so they could be tracked.
Why should anyone have “goodwill” when dealing with an entity that abuses its employees and focuses solely on profit? My goal is to get the product at the lowest possible price from them.
In a case like this when you can’t go in and arrest someone who is attacking your country and lives are at stake, there’s not a lot of options besides dropping a bomb on them.
Uh...not at all similar. Refrigerators don’t have the capability to fry burgers, and if someone came along and figured out a way to do that, the refrigerator manufacturer couldn’t say “your banned from making any modifications to our refrigerators”.
Google shut down their product search because of antitrust issues. It took a while before they realized that they were about to get into real trouble. Hence the “half-assed” replacement.
