Yes, he's a great self promoter and a genius level engineer. You can watch his livestreams to see both for yourself.

People have been so scared by the news, they are still wearing masks outside (where it doesn't spread) and even when vaccinated!

throwkeep··on China will likely ban all Bitcoin mining soon
A crackdown on miners in China would radically reduce the carbon footprint of Bitcoin mining, increase the profitability of all the remaining #Bitcoin miners, reduce nagging China FUD, support progress toward our ESG goals, & drive up the value of $BTC. We should be so lucky...

And take this subtle example from NYT a few days ago.

"More than 67 Palestinians, including 16 children, have died since the start of the conflict on Monday, Palestinian health officials said. The rockets fired by Hamas and its Islamist ally, Islamic Jihad, killed at least six Israeli civilians, including a 5-year-old boy and one soldier."

Note the use of died vs killed.

throwkeep··on How to get rich without being lucky (2019)
Everyone can be rich, because it's a positive sum game. You having a computer doesn't take it from someone else. Every person on the planet can have one.

It's not a fixed pie. We are growing the pie. Most people in "developed" countries are rich from a historical perspective. We have shelter, running water, cheap and plentiful food (so much that we waste over 30%), electricity, microwaves, refrigerators, pocket computers and so on. There's no reason this can't come to the entire world and continue to improve for all.

throwkeep··on Woke at Work: Why tech firms are trying to run away from politics and failing
> posting him in any but a right-wing community is going to be a troll for reactions

This is an extreme shifting of the overton window and cult behavior that excommunicates liberals from the left. Joe Rogan himself is on the left, he has mostly liberal views, he wanted to vote for Bernie Sanders. But because he's heterodox and talks to the "other", he's a sinner who must be cast out.

throwkeep··on A new replication crisis: Research that is less likely to be true is cited more
"Believe science" is incredibly destructive to the entire field. It is quite literally turning science into a religion. Replacing the scientific method with "just believe what we say, how dare you question the orthodoxy". We're back to church and priests in all but name.
throwkeep··on A new replication crisis: Research that is less likely to be true is cited more
Yea, evolution and climate change are pretty solid. But the projected models do no favor to climate science. Those are bogus. They've mostly been wrong in the past and will be mostly wrong again in the future. There are way too many variables and unknowns, and those accumulate the further out the model reaches.
throwkeep··on Woke at Work: Why tech firms are trying to run away from politics and failing
This also sounds like Scientology or at the very least a high pressure religion.

"Joe is an evil person who will introduce you to evil things! We do not speak of him here."

"Are you a true believer or not?"

"We can tell you're not a devoted Scientologist."

"Fall in line, or we'll bully and ostracize you."

throwkeep··on Woke at Work: Why tech firms are trying to run away from politics and failing
It's racism masquerading as anti-racism.
throwkeep··on Woke at Work: Why tech firms are trying to run away from politics and failing
It started with bulldozer parenting, which lead to a generation being unequipped to deal with the real world. They are effectively still toddlers, stuck in arrested development. They demand to be protected from everything, including words and ideas. If they don't get what they want, they throw a tantrum. Colleges turned into their pushover parents, and then tech companies, and now almost every institution.

Yes, they do one thing, and say another. They're not telling their own kids that being obese is beautiful and healthy. That message is for the poors.

> 'Wokeism' (or at least significant parts of it) is, contrary to popular opinion, not an elite project. The reason why it has actual pull in society is because it to a large degree comes out of fairly old-school, activist organizing.

I think it's both, and the activist aspect is why it's so effective and embraced by the Twitter slacktivist crowd.

Identity politics was pushed by the elite to divide the underclass into small pieces. After Occupy Wall Street, they shifted the national discussion and focus away from class to identity.

throwkeep··on The sexual counterrevolution is coming
The elites have been obsessed with race and the new religion of wokeism, which has certainly percolated down.

> Veganism, exercise, obsession with health etc, it hasn't really percolated down much.

They aren't pushing exercise and health, just the opposite. "Stay inside. Obesity is beautiful. Drink coca cola."

throwkeep··on Leaked emails show crime app Citizen is testing on-demand security force
There is only one interpretation for defund, and anyone saying otherwise is gaslighting or using Motte and Bailey. President Obama wisely told progressives to stop saying it.

> If we aren't getting what we're paying for, we should stop paying.

Would you apply that to government services generally, where we're not getting what we pay for?

throwkeep··on Leaked emails show crime app Citizen is testing on-demand security force
Indeed, defunding the police means the poor will be even less protected. The rich will always have their private security. And now they'll have a larger/cheaper labor force, with ex-police officers looking for a new job?
throwkeep··on Ohio’s 53% vaccination surge tied to $1M lottery; NY and Md. announce lotteries
Which is not surprising for the young and not obese, where their death threat is almost nil. It would be like worrying about getting hit by lightning. They are more likely to die in a car crash on the way to get the vaccine, than die from Covid.
throwkeep··on Texas gov knew of natural gas shortages days before blackout, blamed wind anyway
That's because the left is spread among more outlets. MSNBC, CNN, NYTimes, NPR. Whereas Fox is the only major media outlet for the right.

You can see the partisan breakdown here:

https://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2020/04/01/americans-m...

Also you can find many "blue checks" and their followers on Twitter who take MSNBC as scripture to a frightening degree.

throwkeep··on Texas gov knew of natural gas shortages days before blackout, blamed wind anyway
It absolutely is a partisanship problem, and you're just echoing a partisan line. If you look at it from outside the bubbles, it's clear that both sides have lost their minds, and MSNBC and CNN are just as bad as Fox News. Arguably even worse in effect, because unlike Fox, their propaganda is still taken seriously by the rest of the media, most of tech, most of the government and academia. They have far more institutional power.

throwkeep··on Bitcoin is failing at becoming the future of money
> with zero understanding of how it works, naturally

Perhaps you don't understand it either, if you think it has failed.

"Few understand" is a meme and said tongue in cheek, but there's truth to it. To actually understand Bitcoin and crypto, you have to spend 100+ hours on it. Of course few put that kind of time in. Most default to either a blind acolyte or naysayer, depending on whether they got in early or not, or depending on what position is popular with their political tribe.
