uncoder0··on Valve Steam Deck
If you want to see something heinous look at Skyrim's price. 10 years old... $60...
uncoder0··on Why Europeans Don't Refrigerate Eggs but Americans Do
'Sugo' it's pretty popular in Pennsylvania, NY and NJ to call meat sauce gravy.
uncoder0··on Democrat Groups Plan to “Fact Check” Private Text Messages
'More reputable' is subjective based on your own bubble and frame of reference. The OP's link is 'right biased' your link is 'left biased'. I generally try to read a little bit of everything, with a huge grain of salt, and there is no way to read this action as anything other than 'oppressive' imo. Just look at the whole lab leak fiasco for a very recent example of why this type of censorship is awful for both truth and science.

Sadly I've not found a news source that simply reports known facts.

uncoder0··on Coal-burning in Siberia led to climate change 250M years ago (2020)
So number [2] does not reference the same time period the referenced time period in your article is 1/2 the concentrations from 250-300m years ago. There is no disputing the numbers from 200-300m years ago as far as I can tell. [4] is the same graph I looked at. [3] Is not something I even tried to suggest. [5] is obvious and well known in this area of research. I asked a couple specific questions only response [1] addresses them partially. I'm not saying the planet isn't getting hotter by any means. I was asking if I had the periods/eras correct and the CO2 levels so I could appropriately create a frame of reference.
uncoder0··on Coal-burning in Siberia led to climate change 250M years ago (2020)
So they're theorizing that this event is what caused the >1500ppm C02 spike ~250m years ago. Currently we're at ~400ppm. Seems like we shouldn't push it too much further because nature could always throw one of these events at us.

If I'm reading the graphs correctly the atmospheric CO2 was approximately at the same level we are today.

Not my area of expertise so interested to see other's takes on this.

Of course not.

Hmmm, wonder why this fact based comment is being down-voted.
uncoder0··on US takes down Iran-linked news sites, alleges disinformation
yeah if misinformation is so bad they should seize twitter.com and facebook.*
uncoder0··on California will pay off all past due rent
What about inherited mortgages when you're parents die of covid? and then a slow to rent unit due to covid. I know all about that. This wasn't my choice.

uncoder0··on What every programmer should know about SSDs
I could really see your implementation being useful for game development I/O in unity which is C# native.
uncoder0··on Newly discovered Vigilante malware outs software pirates and blocks them
I pirate things that have oppressive DRM that makes people who purchase the software have to jump through unnecessary hoops. I've had 3,000 dollar software not work when I needed it because some license server was down somewhere.

uncoder0··on Camera-Only Autopilot Requires Automatic High Beams Enabled
First worked on Autonomous cars in 2007 for DARPA grand challenge and even back then fused sensing was where it was at. Modern Cameras are better but they're no replacement for the eye. The best thing we can do right now is take high quality cameras and augment them with things like radar and LIDAR to get close to the human eye level perception. It makes the AI's job more about the macro driving problems and less about vision. Look at the string of crashes of Teslas into white box trucks on bright days.

I remember the first time we had problems with a matte black surface with our LIDAR that would have been easily spotted by our camera and vice versa with a shiny white surface in direct sunlight relative the car being easily picked up by lidar but nearly invisible to the cameras.

uncoder0··on Facebook will no longer remove claims that Covid-19 was man-made
I feel like the 'trust the science' crowd neither understands how scientific theory is actually developed by a debate of ideas and a testing of hypothesis. It feels more like a religion replacement that is steeped in dogma.
uncoder0··on Facebook will no longer remove claims that Covid-19 was man-made
I was talking about the circumstantial evidence of the lab leak back in February of 2020 however I decided it was not worth it to continue once it became a topic that would get you de-platformed.

This is one of the few social media platforms I'll share some of my actual beliefs and even here I self censor. I don't so much in private but online there isn't much value in voicing opinions that don't go with the current mainstream views. It's all so sad. 11 - 12 years ago I would get into very spirited and often productive debates and felt I changed minds and had my mind changed many times.

uncoder0··on SpaceX aims for its 100th successful flight in a row TODAY with a Falcon 9
It's very surprising the talent pool they're pulling from to me as someone that doesn't have training in physical engineering beyond control systems and computer vision. Two of my friends who received Chemical Engineering degrees and were advancing in their careers at Exxon are now working at SpaceX with higher salaries (but no pension) as well as a couple friends from college who were in Systems Engineering. All of these people I'd classify as very good engineers as they have all been very high achieving in their fields in college and professionally. Oddly enough both sets are married. I wonder if that's a hiring strategy.

edit: now that I've thought more about it Chemical makes sense since they have chemical rockets and they both have industrial scale manufacturing experience.

uncoder0··on Greenland’s ice sheet is releasing huge amounts of mercury into rivers
My investment horizon doesn't stretch out 200k years as I don't have dynastic wealth so I'll pass on that advice.
uncoder0··on SpaceX aims for its 100th successful flight in a row TODAY with a Falcon 9
SpaceX has done amazing work to make space travel truly routine. Say what you want about Musk but this is a historic achievement for humanity.
uncoder0··on 83% of Americans Are Belt Tightening Due to Inflation Pressures
I've always wondered why the government when doing these ~10 trillion stimulus to various industries just didn't give every person ~$30,000 during the last year spread out over the year. Probably because that would drive actual inflation.
uncoder0··on Unreal Engine 5 enters Early Access
Initial build on a UE4 AAA title typically takes 24-36 hours from what I've seen without intermediate or pre-processing on the art assets. You've gotta build the engine, editor, game and then all the art and lighting.
uncoder0··on Unreal Engine 5 enters Early Access
I really doubt it. I can't imagine UE5 being stable enough to use in production at this stage of development unless they've prioritized the featureset that Mandalorian is using.
uncoder0··on An analysis of Bitcoin's throughput bottlenecks
I'm interested in how all these other chains deal with people writing tons of junk transactions per second to bloat up the chain.
uncoder0··on Hydrofoiling
Sailing has pushed Hydrofoiling to the next level there are 100m boats coming out that claim to be able to do 2.2x wind speed downwind. One of the things I miss the most living in Central Texas is sailing on trapeze and foiling. If I were back near the coast I'd buy one of these: https://iflysail.com/

I've been sailing on this game for nearly a year. I've done around the world 3 times. It's a fantastic group of people in the game and on IRC. I recommend definitely recommend it.
