vbtechguy··on OpenSSL 1.1.1 Is Released
Already supported in Nginx 1.15.3+ if you recompile with either OpenSSL 1.1.1 or BoringSSL

I have no problems for

- Nginx + BoringSSL https://community.centminmod.com/threads/enabling-boringssl-...

- Nginx + OpenSSL 1.1.1 https://community.centminmod.com/threads/openssl-1-1-1-relea...

0-RTT TLS 1.3 is only supported in Nginx 1.15.3 with BoringSSL right now via ssl_early_data Nginx directive.

Nginx will add full 0-RTT TLS 1.3 for OpenSSL 1.1.1 with Nginx 1.15.4+ according to their road map https://trac.nginx.org/nginx/roadmap

vbtechguy··on Nginx HTTP/2 server push support
yup i am using eustas fork for ngx_brotli works well :)
vbtechguy··on Nginx HTTP/2 server push support
been testing Nginx 1.13.9 via master branch with my Centmin Mod Nginx stack and HTTP/2 push testing by setting up cache aware HTTP/2 push via conditional preload link resource hints headers which only show up when a cookie is absent https://community.centminmod.com/threads/hurray-http-2-serve...

works so far but still waiting on bug fix https://trac.nginx.org/nginx/ticket/1478 as Nginx has pushed back 1.13.9 release until next week https://twitter.com/nginx/status/963442197436678144

vbtechguy··on Nginx HTTP/2 server push support
been using ngx_brotli with my Centmin Mod Nginx stack for what seems like years now https://community.centminmod.com/threads/how-to-use-brotli-c... :)
vbtechguy··on Announcing Caddy Commercial Licenses
Matt's response https://caddy.community/t/the-realities-of-being-a-foss-main...
vbtechguy··on Nginx 1.13 released with TLS 1.3 support
at least RHEL/CentOS 7.4 will move to OpenSSL 1.0.2 for APLN and HTTP/2 support :)
vbtechguy··on Nginx 1.13 released with TLS 1.3 support
or just script it to do all the leg work which is what I do with my LEMP installer for TLS v1.3 support and optional nginx compile against LibreSSL or OpenSSL or later BoringSSL https://community.centminmod.com/posts/48818/
vbtechguy··on Nginx 1.13 released with TLS 1.3 support
indeed i am happy to see OpenResty Inc as i use alot of openresty modules i.e. lua etc for my own LEMP stack installer https://centminmod.com/ :)
vbtechguy··on Nginx 1.13 released with TLS 1.3 support
hey Matt https://community.centminmod.com/threads/caddy-http-2-server... oldies but i should revisit this as caddy is using Go 1.8 now
vbtechguy··on Nginx 1.13 released with TLS 1.3 support
caddy doesn't scale or handle high traffic as well as nginx does from my benchmarks and understandably as caddy author has stated, he's focusing on features first then performance. benchmarks caddy vs nginx - caddy uses up to 3x times more cpu and memory resources and 1/3rd the performance of nginx https://community.centminmod.com/threads/caddy-http-2-server...
vbtechguy··on Nginx 1.13 released with TLS 1.3 support
I've had basic nginx vhost stats in my Centmin Mod LEMP stack installer for ages - not as detailed but works https://centminmod.com/nginx.html#vhoststats. Using nginx module https://github.com/vozlt/nginx-module-vts

and TLS v1.3 works fine for me too https://community.centminmod.com/posts/48818/

vbtechguy··on Changes Coming to TLS: Part Two
Looking forward to TLS 1.3. Starting testing Nginx 1.11.13 + OpenSSL 1.1.0 draft 18 branch with TLS 1.3 myself https://community.centminmod.com/posts/47692/ not quite there yet. Needs some love on Nginx end too :)
vbtechguy··on $5 Showdown: Linode vs. DigitalOcean vs. Amazon Lightsail vs. Vultr
probably explains why their disk i/o performance doesn't match Linode or DigitalOcean https://community.centminmod.com/threads/kvm-vps-benchmarks-...
vbtechguy··on $5 Showdown: Linode vs. DigitalOcean vs. Amazon Lightsail vs. Vultr
Linode wins hands down. Check out detailed benchmarks at https://community.centminmod.com/threads/kvm-vps-benchmarks-...
vbtechguy··on High-Memory Instances and $5 Linodes
Yup $5 shoot out between Linode vs DigitalOcean vs Vultr https://community.centminmod.com/threads/10437/ :)
vbtechguy··on Show HN: Book about writing web apps in Go without a framework
Ask and you shall receive Caddy 0.8 and 0.9 benchmarks against Nginx 1.9.7 and 1.11.3 over 2 periods Dec 2015 and Aug 2016 https://community.centminmod.com/threads/caddy-http-2-server...
vbtechguy··on GitMarket: The right way to sell code
i saw on their web site that beta signups get reduced fees from 30 to 15% :)
vbtechguy··on GitMarket: The right way to sell code
thanks for sharing
vbtechguy··on Netdata – Linux performance monitoring, done right
netdata is perfect for single server monitoring it's perfectly suited to integration into my Centmin Mod LEMP stack installer https://community.centminmod.com/threads/addons-netdata-sh-n....

For folks wanting multiple servers, the wiki does mention that i believe at https://github.com/firehol/netdata/wiki#how-it-works

vbtechguy··on Nginx 1.9.11 with Dynamic Modules
Looking good so far I have enabled a few Nginx dynamic modules including Openresty's set-misc, echo and headers more modules https://community.centminmod.com/posts/26535/

  load_module "modules/ngx_http_image_filter_module.so";
  load_module "modules/ngx_http_headers_more_filter_module.so";
  load_module "modules/ngx_http_set_misc_module.so";
  load_module "modules/ngx_http_echo_module.so";
  load_module "modules/ngx_http_geoip_module.so";
  load_module "modules/ngx_stream_module.so";
vbtechguy··on Nginx 1.9.11 with Dynamic Modules
Piotr is working his magic for ngx_pagespeed 1.10 https://github.com/pagespeed/ngx_pagespeed/issues/1114 just need a patch for 1.9 branch too
vbtechguy··on Nginx 1.9.11 with Dynamic Modules
you can reduce re-compilation time by using ccache compiler caching. i do this for my Centmin Mod LEMP stack auto installer and re-compile via ccache is up to 60-80% faster than without ccache https://ccache.samba.org/ :)
vbtechguy··on Nginx 1.9.11 with Dynamic Modules
Well got nginx 1.9.11 stack installer dynamic module ready almost with ngx_brotli fixed, lua nginx module patched https://community.centminmod.com/posts/26128/ just missing ngx_pagespeed compatibility and i'd be happy as a pig in mud :)
vbtechguy··on Nginx module by Google for rewriting web pages to reduce latency and bandwidth
just script the compilation so it's easier over time. That's what i do for my LEMP stack's installer and source compiled nginx. There's a shell based menu option i can run to just recompile nginx for upgrade, downloads or recompiles http://centminmod.com/menu.html :)

automation is the key ^_^

vbtechguy··on Nginx module by Google for rewriting web pages to reduce latency and bandwidth
Also don't forgot about ngx_pagespeed's admin console lots of useful stats there too https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/module/console & https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/module/admin

screenshot examples https://community.centminmod.com/threads/admin-stats-console...

vbtechguy··on Nginx module by Google for rewriting web pages to reduce latency and bandwidth
Yup Centmin Mod LEMP stack installer maintains and integrates ngx_pagespeed with Nginx installs http://centminmod.com/nginx_ngx_pagespeed.html along with handy command line shortcuts to enable and disable pagespeed via pscontrol command :)
vbtechguy··on Nginx module by Google for rewriting web pages to reduce latency and bandwidth
not obsolete at all I benchmarked http/2 vs http/2 + ngx_pagespeed and the http/2 + ngx_pagespeed is still faster http://centminmod.com/http2-versus-spdy-nginx.html#http2vers...

if you think about it, http/2 allows requests over one tcp connection but each page element is still around the same size.

ngx_pagespeed can optimise those page elements css/js and reduce image sizes i.e. png to webp conversion on the fly so each page element is smaller in size.

Utlimately reducing the size of each page element = smaller data transfers = faster page loads :)

I'm also using Google's ngx_brotli https://github.com/google/ngx_brotli + ngx_pagespeed for even better performance https://community.centminmod.com/threads/brotli-compression-...

vbtechguy··on Nginx module by Google for rewriting web pages to reduce latency and bandwidth
hey jdmarantz love ngx_pagespeed been using it for years now integrating into my Centmin Mod LEMP stack installer's Nginx server http://centminmod.com/nginx_ngx_pagespeed.html. The benefits of ngx_pagespeed are truly amazing :)
vbtechguy··on Domain-validated SSL will soon be free from the large CAs
automation will eventually be the way just that Letsencrypt client and 3rd party clients need time to evolve and develop to the stage that is acceptable for most folks

there's a list of clients being developed on their forums some already have auto renewal automation done

see

https://community.letsencrypt.org/t/list-of-client-implement...

for plesk https://community.letsencrypt.org/t/plesk-and-letsencrypt/42...

for Centmin Mod LEMP stack http://centminmod.com/letsencrypt-freessl.html

cpanel feature request at https://features.cpanel.net/topic/provide-support-for-lets-e... where cpanel folks are interested too

vbtechguy··on The state and rate of HTTP/2 adoption
Indeed I am waiting on Nginx HTTP/2 support too. Already testing OpenLiteSpeed and h2o HTTP/2 support at https://h2ohttp2.centminmod.com/webpagetests1.html.
