My current favorite is the 'Made with Lau' channel. A retired Cantonese chef who teaches the techniques he mastered over the years in his restaurant in the US. Start with his oldest uploaded videos for the good stuff. https://www.youtube.com/@MadeWithLau
Five years ago when AMD was recovering from near bankruptcy, it was battling Intel (100K+engineers) in CPUs and Nvidia (20K+ engineers) in GPUs
It was doing that with just 10K engineers and a fraction of the R&D budget of the giants.
Things have changed now. AMD has more than doubled their headcount and R&D budgets. Within the last year the company has pivoted to AI as their main focus.
To get a picture of the current state which has changed a lot, this MS Ignite presentation from three weeks ago may be of interest. The slides show the drop in compatibility they have for higher levels of the stack and the tools for translation at the lower levels. Finally there's a live demo at the end.

AMD made a presentation on their AI software strategy at Microsoft Ignite two weeks ago. Worth a watch for the slides and live demo

Quite the contrary, they've turned around the company to focus on AI.
Legacy software projects are on hold and software developers moved to work on AI under a new VP (former Xilinx exec). They have purchased some startups to get experienced AI developers.
Here is Andrew Ng giving a positive evaluation of AMD's software efforts https://youtu.be/KDBq0GqKpqA?t=2359

They've shifted a large pool of experienced engineers from legacy software projects to AI and moved the team under a veteran Xilinx AI director. Fingers crossed we should see significant changes in 2024.
AMD has had poor management in the GPU computing space since Raja Koduri's time (he put the best engineering resources on VR during his tenure and ignored deep learning). Subsequent directors have not had a long term vision and left within a few years.
Looks like Lisa Su has corrected this now - they seem to have moved AMD software engineers en masse to work under Xilinx management on AI. Remains to be seen if this new management hierarchy will have a better vision and customer focus.
