Ok but non-industrialized animal farming is much more humane than whaling or industrialized animal farming. Reducing meat consumption is more humane than all of the above.
In my experience Californians move to a new area, often more rural or with a differing local culture and want the same chain-store consumerist culture they left behind in California. And sure, there may be some political differences between their old home and the new place but it's more about the lack of respect for where they're moving and pushing their old culture onto the new place with no disregard to what made the new place nice in the first place. Change is inevitable so I can't complain about it too much but there are fewer and fewer places to escape to that aren't becoming Californicated. Or New Yorkified. Or Floridiated.
Maybe they've decided that Uber's future lies in letting someone else solve that hard problem of self-driving cars and Uber figuring out how to line up the capital to lease self-driving cars from that winner.
At least in Austin and North of there, you start seeing 90s in April but average temperature of 90F+ is Jun-September.

I can't speak for South Texas as I am unfamiliar with the climate beyond some occasional visits.
Breaking an agreement with your employer is a civil act, at least in the US. "Confidential" information is a pretty broad designation as well, so things like insider trading and trade secrets can be a criminal act but other "confidential information" your company deems so might only be a civil violation or perhaps not even that if it's not covered by signed contracts.
I think it's high time for Puerto Rico to become a US state. Puerto Rico has twice the population of the two Dakotas combined and the only way they'll receive more-equitable treatment is if they become a state. I think the will is there locally but there has been resistance from established political factions in the US who fear a place that might tip the balance of power one way or the other.
"Outside experts" are a way for a so-called managerial class to signal that they are "taking action" while offloading negative outcomes and any accountability to firms like McKinsey via blame-shifting. The voting public is not exactly allowed to weigh in on whether high-priced consultants should be engaged.
Seems like a very low threshold of expectation for individuals entrusted with weapons, professional immunity and relatively safe jobs compared to garbage men and loggers and etc.
I'd say the PPP loans offered to large corporations for "Covid relief" are high-grade corruption due to the sums involved, the explicit removal of traditional oversight processes and funneling it through the US banking system even though the banks were only responsible for collating paperwork and not providing any sort of risk-assessment or capital for the loans themselves.
I am sure other opinions will differ but if you feel generally secure with yourself and your life, I'd recommend enjoying it out in the woods. My friend has had some magical experiences with the sunset and the onset of the evening but it's not bad during the day, just less readily apparent visual effects, according to them.
I guess I'd look at the crime rate of the area to assess the necessity of corporatist CCW permits.
The intersection of capitalism and freedom is certainly a rotten terrain though perhaps not in the way you'd hope me to think. Perhaps one can choose none of the above and be ethically absolved.
Depends on the tradition or school or however the divisions are named I think. I don't possess a deep understanding of Buddhism but I've visited shrines that are dedicated to different gods/bodhisattvas like Tara or another one I don't remember. Maybe that's different than a temple though, these were shrines up in the Himalya. And the line between deities and bodhisattvas or humans doesn't seem so clearly delineated as it is in Abrahamic religions. Buddhism and "Hinduism" are intensely complex and interesting religions or sets of beliefs to me.
I am not exactly well-versed in Chinese culture but it seems like locals would have an advantage over carpet-baggers given my paltry understanding of guanxi.
He said he'd put their heads on spikes on the corners of the White House as a warning to others which is not a figure of speech. How is that figurative in any way other than he hasn't done it. Nothing Fauci has done deserves that sort of violent rhetoric either.
The maximum small claims penalty in Texas is $20,000 and while that amount may be aspirational, Roper Technologies has just purchased Vertafore for 5.35 billion USD[0] so it would only take a per capita penalty of $191 to match the purchase price and make the acquisition a truly expensive and foolhardy decision. Roper Technologies booked 3.2 billion USD revenue in 2020[1].

I think the best thing that American civil society could do is force some changes legislatively at Facebook so that Zuckerberg isn't shielded from answering to a Board of Directors and share-holders. He's just another example of why dictatorial personalities with no accountability are deeply problematic for a free and more decent American society for the rest of us.
Any advice on sites to find old motorcycles for purchase? I know Craigslist might be good but I am always happy to take the advice of knowledgeable strangers.
