This twitter user claims an identity for one of the spies that were targeting Citizen Lab: https://twitter.com/bibken/status/1089991510203027457

Found this tweet by reverse image searching and looking a few pages down in the results.

You'd have to shut down the over-grazing first.

wavefunction··on MIT Media Lab Scientist Used Refugees to Tout Food Computers That Didn't Work
I feel like they've been that way for over a decade at the very least. While I may be ignorant of such, I know of no outcomes of TED talks that led to new developments or progress or breakthroughs. The astronomical cost of attendance allows some wealthy people to intellectually slum when --given their resources-- they could already be involved in remarkable efforts.

wavefunction··on Some people who take psychedelics continue hallucinating indefinitely
When my friend was younger and more indulgent with psychedelics, he would sometimes get tracers or flashes of light when tired but they went away eventually. He's open-minded about the human sensory experience so it didn't bother him.
wavefunction··on Some people who take psychedelics continue hallucinating indefinitely
Latent schizophrenics shouldn't take psychoactive drugs of any kind. Schizophrenics (like other people suffering from mental illness) are prone to self-medicate as well though. And the evidence that someone prone to schizophrenia who develops it because of drug use but wouldn't have otherwise developed schizophrenia is scant or non-existent.
wavefunction··on By removing “extremist content,” platforms are purging human rights evidence
They don't have to delete it, just stop publishing it for consumption by their users. I would expect them to turn over evidence of crimes to appropriate law enforcement.

wavefunction··on On ‘Island’ in Russian Arctic, Arrival of Fast Internet Shakes Political Calm
>Going on vacation, several said, meant sitting in a hotel room

You missed the "going on vacation" part I guess, though perhaps you believe people in Norilsk "go on vacation" by booking a hotel room in Norilsk.

wavefunction··on The $68k Fish: The future of salmon in the Pacific Northwest
Salmon spawn in a river and head out to sea for a while to mature before returning to their river and reproducing and dieing. So... probably not and what purpose would that serve?
wavefunction··on Dr Sarah E. Hill: ‘A blind spot about how the pill influences women’s brains’
I've had this discussion with at least a few of the women I've shared some intimacy with. At least one was hesitant to take chemical birth-control over physical prophylaxis due to how it made her feel and act.

wavefunction··on A Nun’s 450-Year-Old ‘Last Supper’ Makes Its Museum Debut in Florence
The colors are gorgeous even on my impoverished screen: I can only imagine what this work looks like in person and with real light. A style reminiscent of other masters but unique and undeniably her own. And the scale of this work! Sure it compares favorably with similar great works but to languish in obscurity for so long...

Thanks for sharing this article!

wavefunction··on Zappos 2012 data breach settlement
I worked for a much smaller place with far less resources than Amazon (which is what Zappos is) and our PCI compliance as a payments processor was rock solid. Our systems were under attack all the time from all corners of the globe and we never suffered a breach.

If you can't manage PCI compliance then you shouldn't be involved with credit cards.

wavefunction··on Zuckerberg asserts Facebook stands for free expression
You sure about that? https://www.nytimes.com/2016/11/22/technology/facebook-censo... I know they're not operating in China but that appears to be because Chinese authorities have blocked them and not any particular moral stance.
wavefunction··on Zuckerberg asserts Facebook stands for free expression
I find him completely untrustworthy starting with his famous statements regarding his early users and their privacy expectations. Since then he hasn't done anything to engender trust but has enabled the spreading of outright falsehoods and propaganda, and extremist and violent content that emboldens others to act out their own sick fantasies.

The World Wide Web already provides an open platform representing "diverse views" and I see absolutely no value in facebook trying to claim that mantle as they have promoted such "diverse views" as the mass shooting videos and ISIS execution and propaganda videos even when alerted to the presence on their platform.

facebook under Mark Zuckerberg has not shown themselves to be worthy of trust and in fact have shown the opposite. facebook needs to be broken apart into its constituent parts as they cannot be trusted as they are.

wavefunction··on Zuckerberg asserts Facebook stands for free expression
Zuckerberg continues to increase my support for a breakup of the facebook/instagram/whatsapp/oculus. He's not the sort of person that should be entrusted with the awesome power he's wielding over the world, if there are any.
wavefunction··on One Way to Keep the Sidewalk Clear: Remote-Controlled Scooter-Bots
>I made eye contact with a homeless person pooping again today. This has become a regular part of life in the United States.

It's certainly not a regular part of life in the United States. It may be (but probably isn't) a regular part of your own life in the United States.

I've made eye contact with a pooping homeless person in the United States zero times over four decades of life.

wavefunction··on Open-source apps removed from Google Play Store due to donation links
Does Apple take their customary cut? I am not interested in "donating" to Apple.
wavefunction··on Depressed People See the World More Realistically (2017)
I am depressed by objective things like the die off of birds and bees and acidification of the oceans and temperature rises. I am depressed by the state of humans and their behaviors which are observable if harder to quantify.

And as I've gotten older I realize I have a pretty solid grasp on things and the sort of woo-woo model of reality you propose "everything is relative" is eminently ignoreable.

wavefunction··on The Acid Farmers
>spawns a deep introspective process for the person

It can for some. It can terrorize others. And some people just giggle a lot.

wavefunction··on You may never see Studio Ghibli’s movies on streaming services
They must be talking about now because I know I've watched Spirited Away, Nausicaa, Princess Mononoke, Grave of the Fireflies and Ponyo on streaming services in the past.
wavefunction··on Sears Hasn’t Fared Better After Bankruptcy
Y'all are probably right at least with Craftsman, I haven't bought any Craftsman products and haven't seen their products appear in my research on the best-of-breed for * tool.

They do seem to be assembling their tools in America which is a plus for me.

wavefunction··on How to pack a Norwegian sandwich, the world’s most boring lunch
>modern work ethics

Don't kid yourself when comparing the present to the past (and for some, still present) with sun-up to sun-down manual labor.

wavefunction··on Sears Hasn’t Fared Better After Bankruptcy
Craftsman and Kenmore still retain their reputations even if they don't match their quality of decades past. I inherited a Craftsman table saw with an electric motor from the 1960s that my grandfather used to finish his house at the time. All it needed were new belts and blades.

More recently I purchased a house with a Kenmore Elite range whose only detriment from perfection is that it's an electric rather than gas range.
