I've heard a lot of people rave on the NPR app, but the skinny text column kills it for me. I have a nice big screen, but NPR limits text to about a 3" column. This is true even for stories without an image which is especially maddening (a half empty screen with some silly share content buttons). When I first used it I thought it was a bug, but apparently that's what they want it to look like.

I greatly prefer the NY Times app.
