I think Dindim has found a source of free food. Although it's a win win because who doesn't want to be visited by a penguin.

Do they perceive the "stops existing" as dying? Should the handler remove the sock puppet out of view of the animal?
But anthropomorphizing is a real thing that people do. It's definitely important that dog owners don't have unrealistic human ideas about dog behavior for example. It's really not fair to give the use of the phrase a negative association necessarily.
Also, what economic ideologues do you have in mind? Academics generally understand the difference between a model of how things could work and the real world pretty well, and populists with economic agendas usually thought of as making the opposite mistake.
I can see why some people just stick their fingers in their ears and think of non-human animals as "Things" rather than thinking beings. Otherwise the world is far more terrible and cruel than bears thinking about.
Bears thinking about what? What are they thinking about?!
Unless they are just destructive sociopaths, everyone is motivated by perceived gains. You're misunderstanding if you think they are saying just "money".
People very frequently turn down a higher monetary value in exchange for some perceived gain otherwise. This is completely modeled by economics.
Can I take a liberal position, say LGBT equality, and be a capitalist?
