In practice you're just fighting different compiler bugs.

Except for C, for all intents and purposes every other major language basically has one authoritative compiler implementation.

C++ has GCC, CLANG, MSVC, all of them being major, and a dozen of less popular ones used in specific places like Intel C++ Compiler.

And the funny thing is, C++ is so complex it's the last language I'd expect to have multiple optimizing compilers (though rust is probably similar, I imagine.)

I'm lumping them together, as most people do. Even though I guess both groups hate it (C devs vs C++ devs).
