Some in the west think that India is western like democracy, but moves like this indicate that the government there is actually a regressive and almost authoritarian in nature, it society is far from reaching say the level of openness of other modern democracy, and the current government is hell bent on retarding and reversing all tendencies towards achieving a westernized polity.
