I'd be more worried about other things if a disaster big enough takes out civilization than trying to clean wipe a Macbook.

It might be that we need those machines for some practical purpose.

Or like... your country decides it no longer likes Apple and blocks all connections to it

The laptop will work until it needs to be wiped and reset.
