hmmm wonder why wouldn't google just roll their own.

Domain specific knowledge. Don't roll your own unless you really know what you are doing. Especially for anything finance.

Also their software is approved by all the various accounting rules - it makes auditing so much easier compared to rolling your own ERP system.
