That was (a) a massive distortion—you can trivially see from https://hn.algolia.com/?dateRange=all&page=0&prefix=true&que... that there are many other kinds of downweighting. On top of that, (b) you added snark ("of course") and insinuation ("on the surface") in a way that strikes me as particularly uncharitable.
