Many industries are still running on COBOL including healthcare.

We think COBOL will still be around 30 years from now, so we're training college grads.

No cobol experience? I don't think it will be a problem if you already know another language well.

How about MUMPS (ANSI-M)? Is it still used in healthcare, or did they manage to replace all systems?

MUMPS and derivatives are still the basis for the major EMRs in use today.

EPIC has about 1/3 US market share, and the VA--the largest healthcare system in the country--has its homegrown VistA CPRS. So MUMPS isn't going anywhere :)

Is this still up-to-date? Wasn't VISTA replaced by a COTS product by Cerner? And isn't EPIC implemented in Caché and its Object Script (i.e. not in M)?

Looks to me like all of those require experience.

Many do, but some don't. Contractor positions would most likely require experience, but full time positions would include more entry level. They're willing to make the investment to FTE.
