Medieval is one of those words that I have never been able to remember how to spell, maybe this will be a mnemonic that sticks.

I had the same problem and eventually settled on "medical evaluation" as a mnemonic.

A mnemonic that suits more cases is, "i before e, except after c."

That rule has so many exceptions that there's another mnemonic for remembering the exceptions.
