Except SIMD code while faster may sometimes be less energy-efficient than scalar code. Different SIMD extensions have different energy efficiency characteristics. Also, multithreaded code may finish a task sooner, but spend more energy budget due to costs of synchronisation, spawning and joining threads, etc.
