Then you're doing it wrong. I have never bought a dongle in my life, but I _have_ replaced cables with ??? to USB-C variants.

- Micro USB to USB-C

- HDMI to USB-C

- DisplayPort to USB-C

- Mini USB to USB-C (that was tough to find!)

Literally everything plugs into my laptop natively without a dongle.
