They'll use one spacecraft to block the sun shining on the other spacecraft,yes.

Only for each other: it's more like holding up a plate to cover the sun, not making an eclipse for a large portion of the earth.

Damn, this would have been a great way to combat global warming. We just need much bigger plates.

The idea of a solar shade to manage the amount of sunlight we get has been around for a while.

What if we just nudge the moon into an orbit that always eclipses the sun?
