It's funny to contrast this policy with the studio's own demand that Black Myth not be labelled a souls-like. Because Dark Souls pretty much explored all of these concepts in a respectful and interesting context. Insulting other players and using crude language is built-into the game with the message system. Politics, violence, nudity, feminist propaganda (?) and fetishization are important aspects of the story that require you to develop an opinion based on the perspective of the characters you interact with. Disease and it's consequences make a return in almost every Dark Souls entry, and the contrast of tenuous authoritarianism vs holistic anarchy is basically the entire reason the game exists. In a souls-like, players are expected to be in conversation with these principles as a way to inform the decisions they make when role-playing.
Guess they're really not a souls-like. Glad I didn't pick this game up.
