You can ask Chat GPT to rewrite things in the voice of a particular author, or with other style directions. There are no guarantees it will follow your directions well, but you certainly aren't stuck with Chat GPT's default writing style.
I have a feeling that the early style guides were weighted heavily in favor of poetic forms because it was extremely impressive to see AI create poetry.
But now we are used to it and we just want effective, boring writing!
