There was a recent Show HN project that claimed to be 'self-hosted', and the installation included something like 6 service subscription dependencies. That's just a SaaS with more steps.
I’ve had to tell agents working on a personal project that will never see another living soul to stop referring to it as self hosted when it requires tavily, fish audio, deepseek, and anthropic API keys.
