Hacker News Reader

I noped out of this site after 5 seconds of “verifying my connection.”

This trend is annoying and is punishing users to stop scraping of their stupid articles. I feel like 20 times a day I have to wait or click a box or something just so they can charge robots to read their public content.

I agree with you but honestly, better that than the endless visual chaos of all the ads and popups. If they can make revenue from bots and make the human reader experience better, then great. I'm not saying they won't do both.

I want them to find a smarter way that doesn’t make my experience suck.

There’s enough sites who don’t have this annoying feature.
