Imagine waking up and thinking: We should not help with the defense of a nation that was attacked by a totalitarian dictatorship, because some of their politicians are corrupt.

Defense against aggressive totalitarianism is much more important than fight against corruption. And there is also the fact that Russian influence is the main reason for corruption in Ukraine..

Yeah, the war on terror was also fought on such grounds. It just cost most of the west a few Trillions of dollars and freedoms while having caused the deaths of hundreds of thousands of dead muslims, crippled and mentally ill veterans and the "evil people" are still in charge 20 years later - only that it turned out they had nothing to do with what was used as a pretence for this war on terror.

So we should never fight against evil, because some of the wars in the past caused more harm than good? That does not make sense.

For every "war on terror", I can point to WW2, Korean War, First Gulf War, Intervention in Serbia, where the good guys won and the world is better for it.

You are the propagandized one. Russia wants you to not resist their imperialism, just because the west made some mistakes in the past. You have fallen for their manipulation strategy hook, line, and sinker.

If you think in terms of "evil", you don't know your history. I'm out.

Aggressive totalitarianism is evil. If we cannot agree on such basic thing, further discussion is indeed pointless.
