Even on Windows I don't install such games.
There are so many to chose from, even retrogaming content is more than I can play during my remaining lifetime.

Thus Proton depends on Windows as source ecosystem, only yet another platform to "emulate" on Linux, like MAME, Amiga, Playstation, whatever.
Windows is just that much better for game devs.
