What exactly is hard stuff though? The concept, the implementation, the grokking? For a person with the right mindset now is easier to get to the Eureka moment, because it is fairly cheap to try all the stuff that doesn't work.

Learning stuff is hard for most people. We like to avoid hard stuff. Of course you can say that it's just about having the right mindset, but so is quitting to smoke.

I speculate that painstakingly trying all the hard stuff that doesn't work is extremely valuable. In many fields this is how the greats became so.
