Nemotron, Inkling, Gemma, Trinity Large, Snowflake Arctic were all released/updated in the last 6 months, and there are countless other smaller models out there. US open weight is very far from "dead", and certainly doesn't need Zuck as a savior.
Also IBM Granite has a small thinking model now (though it is slightly exasperating in use)
Is Google not gonna make another Gemma or something?
Even if they stopped, the Chinese model release hit an all-time high this summer so I think we're good.
