If others find beauty in something, should I not want to also try and see it?

Some things take time to learn to enjoy. I've bounced off things in the past several times before I started to really enjoy them later on. I'd like to think my experience with media is not just a random walk through whatever is in front of me and that I can direct that experience, at least a bit.

Alright, fair. That was a better explanation than your previous wording. The “forcing myself” to me implies doing something unpleasant. Like the example I gave. I think it’s fine to try things out and try to see the beauty in them, but at a certain point (like before sixty hours into one game) you should already have a sense of understanding if the thing jives with you or not.

I also don’t think not appreciating something is a flaw which “needs fixing”.

But all good, you do you, and I’m glad you’re enjoying the experience. Have a nice weekend, and remember to look away from the screen periodically! I’m going to follow that advice myself right now.
