Can someone tell me what the future for software engineering or architecting as a profession would look like? Should I focus on concepts rather than code?
The future of software is very clearly: business people state what they need, in business language. Agents handle architecting, planning, implementation, testing, and verification of software that fills those needs. Business people QA the final result.
That's not where things are now, at least not yet. But the writing is on the wall for "software" as a profession. You've got a few years yet. Work on getting promoted or starting a business of your own.
