A bit of a tangential question but are there any guardrails around the capability that exitmap uses to perform its function ?
Could someone DDoS Tor by abusing exitmap ?
There are no guardrails because they could easily be removed and exitmap's intended use case (verifying exit relay integrity) is far more important than its potential for abuse. Besides, the Tor network has seen several DDoS attacks over the years and I'm not aware of any that used exitmap.
You can configure number of hops per circuit and that includes single hop circuits. So exitmap doesn’t add any functionality that isn’t already part of Tor.
Thats awesome! Thanks for building it, it helped a ton :)
