Maybe you've been brought up in a culture (Sweden) which has no values except putting extreme importance on uniform spelling? People from other countries probably don't give it the same importance.
The occasional typo has always existed and is fine. The new trend is a noticeable increase in occurrences.
The original point is that it's exactly what an LLM would do to appear human.
