Too bad it didn't. NSF grants decreased accidentally after somebody put in a filter to not fund mentions of "equality", quite common in mathematics papers. Meanwhile, Air Force grants (which is in part captured by category theorists, not so much applied math!) are significantly up. [1] The voters didn't give a damn about either: the ticjet they voted to defund was a whole the other sense of "equality".
