Most gods have never been observed to have any real world impact. Only their worshippers cause real world effects. So god is not a bad analogy even for doomers.
The supreme god of our system, Sol, is such a reliable presence in our lives that many people forget he even exists. Its okay though, Sol demands no recognition or worship from us, which ironically makes Sol more worthy of it than those vain and demanding gods that never show their faces.
