Whereas IPv6 is effectively unlimited, so by Georgist principles should be free. I wonder if charging 'rent' on IPv4 addresses would be enough to get people to switch over?

My hosting providers gives you IPv6 for free, whereas IPv4 costs ~3€/month. It seems like a no brainer, until you realise that many clients wouldn’t be able to find you with IPv6 alone.

So I don’t see how to fix this except at the ISP level (forcing them). No one is preventing this but the providers.

If you tax it, you get less of it.

Yes, but 'use' rather than 'get'. If you tax land or other natural resources, people use less so there is more for everyone else. It doesn't pay to hoard or speculate.
