I have no idea whether or not that image is accurate, but it's worth noting the image deals solely with mobile-related patents. This lawsuit was related to the H.264 on the Xbox.
Considering the chart doesn't even have Apple suing Samsung, I'd say is either very inaccurate or very out of date.
It doesn't have Motorola suing anyone either, which the OP sort of demonstrates is false.
This is the Motorola part of Google, which is being sued by both Apple and Microsoft, so it's still defensive.
IIRC, they were started by Motorola but Google continues them after Motorola became part of Google. Some companies have better PR departments but generally, that's the only difference when it comes to wireless patents.
