I used to work for an IoT connectivity provider (think SIM cards, eUICC etc); I know that some of the manufacturers of various devices have been investigating adding cellular and soldered eUICC (ostensibly for diagnostics, warranty etc).
So it's not even that it won't be long; I'm sure they already have designs and are just waiting for eUICC support to catch up.
Then they'll quickly discover how bad cell coverage is in vast swathes of the USA and they'll have to be a lot more tolerant of bad customer sat scores and high return rates than they typically want to be.
Vehicles already have them, you don't need a lot of bandwidth just enough data to identify the members household which can be done with a wifi access point map and bluetooth MACs.
The Qualcomm license probably makes it too expensive
Unless they include armored cellular antennas, it's just another thing to get defeated
