Note that Fedora CoreOS is a very low maintanance atomic Fedora system designed with fully automated updates in mind, and along with the systemd podman integration you mention, can easily be set up to automatically update both OS and containers.

Which may not be ideal for serious production workloads, but is perfect for non-mission critical appliance workloads like Pihole.
