What the Republicans failed to do, and where the Democrats have an advantage, is to legislate. The GOP barely passed any laws and Trump ruled as an autocrat, but nothing that he did will be enduring. What they need to do now is to create and enforce a wave of enduring laws. I sure hope someone has a Project 2027 for this...

edit, rephrase: breaking all of the international institutions and norms that the US set up in the post-WW2 era, including severely straining NATO, may prove to be enduring.

Sorry, was writing too quickly and in generalities, and totally agree with you. I was referring to using executive orders versus actual legislation.

The institutions that were destroyed shall not necessarily heal.
