No it's not.

That will do it though, so it's not too hard to add.

Git does it on `git commit -a`.

No, it doesn't.

    -a, --all
        Tell the command to automatically stage files
        that have been modified and deleted, but new
        files you have not told Git about are not affected.

Ah, it's too long since I used hg. Thought it only picks up deletes.
