You should take a look at the code. It uses quite some subpackages, each importable on its own. I didn't look INTO it, but the dependency information from http://godoc.org/github.com/smartystreets/goconvey and its subpackages paint another picture, it is probably a lot less monolithic than you think... Still, I didn't look at it in depth myself, yet.
