0-o··on Programmers should stop calling themselves engineers (2015)
I get the premise of the article is to show that software developers aren't all that special, and shouldn't call them engineers.

But what's frustrating to me is the blatant comparison of structural engineering with computer security. The comparison stops at the point that they're both in place to make sure nothing bad happens. Imagine building a bridge and having to fend off hundreds of adversaries continuously getting more advanced in finding ways to destroy your bridge.

0-o··on A list of tech job openings – Expertly reviewed by tech workers
Creator here: Please tell me what you think about the idea, and what other features you'd like to have a job opening reviewed on!
0-o··on Best productivity tools for your dev life
Lists like this are very useful. I find myself switching between different productivity apps often to keep in fun and interesting. Wunderlist and Trello are defintely two of my favorites.
0-o··on Show HN: A job board where all jobs are thoroughly reviewed
Hi Crinus,

Thanks for your thorough review, this is exactly what I'm looking for.

It's really bootstrapped (a.k.a. riddled with small bugs and errors and incomplete features), mainly because I'd want to know what people would like to see more without preemptively assuming things.

The funny thing is that after asking a bunch of people for feedback and turning it into tasks, the list is completely different from my own backlog, the stuff I thought people wanted.

Just one question (you've helped a lot already so don't feel obligated to respond): Which features would you like to see prioritised?

Hi! Creator of Jobs/Curated here :).

Two weeks ago I figured it was time to start working more for myself and less for clients. I like the bootstrapped style of building startups and this is one of the first concepts I churned out in a while!

I'm going to try and process your feedback, convert it to tasks and get them in production as soon as possible, so please be brutal! :)

The concept is simple: Job openings get reviewed by experts. These experts are not your normal recruiters. They are qualified for the jobs they are vetting. Scoring is done on aspects ranging from salary to work-life balance, resulting in a curated list of high-quality jobs.

0-o··on I’m Peter Roberts, immigration attorney who does work for YC and startups. AMA
Hi Peter,

Thanks for the AMA!

For a Dutch citizen, is it possible for me to work in tech for a YC startup? How difficult is it to get an H1 and what is the best route to go about this?

0-o··on The Bitcoin Cash Flippening
Probably because of ideology. A lot of bitcoiners don't want to see the flip happen.
0-o··on Cryptocurrency sentiment analysis tool
Exactly! If you'd want to do data analytics on this I'd be happy to expand the API to fit your needs :)
0-o··on Cryptocurrency sentiment analysis tool
Not properly but I want to add a graph in the future to see if currency prices correlate with sentiment and in the case that they differ, determine how they move towards each other.
0-o··on Cryptocurrency sentiment analysis tool
Not a dumb question, it selects certain tweets, analyses them using the google language api.

All tweets together weighted over their followers determines the sentiment.

Sorry for the delays! I wasn't quite ready for the amount of requests coming from HN

0-o··on Cryptocurrency sentiment analysis tool
Hi Guys,

I wrote a cryptocurrency twitter sentiment analysis tool I use for trading, but I'm about to go on a holiday for a month, and thus making it public for a while!

It filters tweets by amount of followers, favourites and retweets.

It's connected to the google language api and does some weighting over followers amount and average user sentiment. If you want to know more, send me a message or an email!

If you like it, feel free to donate a coffee!

Quickfixed by removing the 8 hour query :). Will build in caching asap!

Unfortunately the HN load showed one of the queries is broken, classic mistake, I'll see if I can quickfix

Nice, a HN-Share button. Is it me, or is this a new thing?
0-o··on What's up with the number 163?
This is like the Ancient Aliens series for numerology. For episode 2 I suggest the number 2. As a premeditation I suggest we all start to cogitate on the preternatural property of the number 2: it being a "magic number".

0-o··on Dorian Satoshi Nakamoto's official denial of Bitcoin involvement
I guess, if you can verify that there was communication by from the Satoshi Nakamoto account around the timeframe where he claims to be hospitalised (october 2012 and october 2013), it will be less likely that Dorian has bitcoin involvement.

Well, when it reaches a 256 block, it also reached a 128 block, so some games count for 2 or 3 blocks.

Ran your strategy 162 times with autoit of which the following blocks came by: [128]: 150 times, [256]: 36 times, [512]: 13 times, [1024]: 0 times. Anyone else a good suggestion for an optimal "blind" strategy?
