1bpp··on Show HN: Ante, a coding agent in a single binary that runs offline
Probably yes; If Figma is deciding for you where the gradient goes, what colors it is, and what its purpose in the design is, then no.
1bpp··on Show HN: Ante, a coding agent in a single binary that runs offline
No, it's using FL Studio's random sequence generator with a general MIDI instrument, exporting it, then saying it's a ballad you just composed. Or paying a ghostwriter to write on a topic, then saying it's a novel you just wrote.

You aren't building your own game if you have a chatbot do it for you.
1bpp··on Os8088: A powerful Mac-like OS for the IBM XT, 286, 386
Different groups, the spammers like to congratulate each other for how much hard work they must have put into their very impressive prompt engineering. Regardless, AI code is distinct from extremely blatant AI design. People dismiss things that had no actual design, just whatever fell out of the prompt they gave it. If you can't write a single human paragraph or put thought and care into how you are presenting 'your' project, it's not worth paying attention to. Why can't they present their own work honestly? Why would I spend energy looking at an OS made by someone who can't write an HTML file by themself?
1bpp··on I'm switching my phone from Android to Linux
Do you take photos or use Bluetooth? What's the experience like for multimedia SMS (assuming no RCS), Whatsapp, banking or other apps normal people expect you to use, or file transfer? Are there any devices that can do NFC?
1bpp··on Cloudflare OS: an open platform for agents, apps, and work
Because it sounds impressive to clueless people ($).
1bpp··on We finally learned to center a div, then browsers added sidebars

1bpp··on KisakCOD – Open-source reimplementation of Call of Duty 4 Multiplayer
Never seen GPL disclosed with a BIG logo before (it's a good logo!)
1bpp··on Show HN: Shitty – fast terminal. Memory-unsafe and faster than yours
They aren't asking for money or literally anything from you, it's just someone's project with a silly name.
1bpp··on Saying 'Google It' Makes You Sound Old
Yep! <3
1bpp··on Show HN: Make your Framework 12 sound like a creaky door
It finally feels premium. This is really funny
1bpp··on Saying 'Google It' Makes You Sound Old

1bpp··on GE-97 Terminal: The Old Internet
I'm so incredibly tired of the monospace glowy-text black-background cursor-trail breathless emdash prompt-repeating nonsense text Claude artifacts getting posted here. Not a single paragraph here reads as human-written English.
1bpp··on The time filter in Google Search broke a few days ago
I get the feeling the hidden 'tools' button that makes Image Search actually useful (filter resolution, transparent PNG, animated gif etc) is going to be completely broken soon too, like they did to reverse search.
1bpp··on How to Spot AI Writing
Love a good self-citation, it'll definitely catch on
1bpp··on Everyone is building LLM routers, we deprecated ours
'keeps' is the wrong tense and could be 'will keep'
1bpp··on Azulejo
I think this fits nicely under the guidelines of "anything that gratifies one's intellectual curiosity" a lot more than all of the AI marketing blogspam over there.
1bpp··on WOFF 1.0: a milestone on W3C's journey of fonts on the web
I wonder if this is because of one broadcast character generator or something deciding to use it and people cloning them, or just being the best choice at the time? I've never heard of PFR and find those kinds of parallel-universe standards interesting
1bpp··on Show HN: Formally verified 3D CSG: Trust 93 lines spec, not 1000 lines AI code
Thank you! CSG has made level prototyping more fun and fast in Godot for me.
1bpp··on VLC for Unity now supported on Linux
They acquired Plastic SCM around 2020 and I believe they integrated it into the engine, but that was shortly after I stopped using Unity
1bpp··on Show HN: SpinWin – A macOS menu bar app to visually rotate or spin any window
Did you write this or have Claude do it? You've never used an em dash in your comment history and this doesn't sound human. Are you trying to use it for translation?
1bpp··on It's a shame what's happened to radio
But the human ones are probably jockeying disks now anyway :)
1bpp··on The Zilog Z80 has turned 50
The TI-84+ might be one of my favorite retro computers.
1bpp··on EEG shows brain can simultaneous encode two speech streams
Personally it's the same way you look at a thing and get a mental sense of "this is that thing" without having to scan every detail right away, you look at a chunk of a sentence or words and get the sense of its meaning, and you can vocalize that in your head if you want to
1bpp··on Just Do Things
I think whatever Javascript you made your AI write to do that is causing scrolling to be incredibly laggy on a phone and warm my entire device; Pixel 7a in Firefox.

edit: it's something you (Claude) are doing with text rendering. Zooming in on any text makes it exponentially worse.

It's obvious when you don't give a shit about design. It's extremely obvious when you lie about making something that a machine output when you don't give a shit about design yourself. Everybody sees this.

1bpp··on Show HN: Microcosm Industries – Simulation toys and software microcosms
Did an LLM generate this website or stylesheet?
1bpp··on The largest available Minecraft world, totalling 15 TB
My bad, I had skimmed the wiki to confirm but I did misinterpret it as only storing NBT data for user-placed blocks, regenerating the rest. It makes sense why that wouldn't work.
1bpp··on The largest available Minecraft world, totalling 15 TB
I think "storing deltas" based on seed is largely how Minecraft saves the level already, but you could probably strip out a bunch of useless metadata to get it smaller
1bpp··on CSS DOS – a '80s PC in a stylesheet
Did a human make this?

edit: The answer is no, a person did not make this, by the author's admission. This is generated spam. https://css-dos.ahmedamer.co.uk/#about/faqs

1bpp··on Ask HN: Add flag for AI-generated articles
I would love to see a 'flag as AI' coupled with a profile setting to hide posts that have had a certain number of AI flags. Allow people who don't want to see likely AI content to filter it silently.
